The list of the winners for the 64th National Film Awards is out and turns out future co-stars Akshay Kumar and Sonam Kapoor both got honoured this year.
Sonam Kapoor received a Special Mention for her role in Neerja, while the movie went on to win ‘Best Hindi Feature Film’. Her Padman co-star Akshay Kumar won the title of ‘Best Actor’ for Rustom.
“It goes without saying that I am very happy. In fact, I am shooting for R Balki sir’s film in Indore along with Akshay Kumar so it’s like double celebrations for us,’ Sonam said in an interview with Hindustan Times, adding, “It’s such a prestigious award, it adds humungous validation to your efforts. There’s no lobbying or corruption involved when it comes to National Awards. In that sense, it’s a very genuine and true award. So, I am extremely kicked about it.”
The actor posted an Instagram with Akshay Kumar, from the sets of their upcoming movie, expressing their ‘shock’ at the news.
