Statement lip colours for times when red feels predictable

A swipe of lipstick for me is the equivalent to standing in the Wonder Woman pose. It instantly cheers me and boosts my confidence. That’s the ‘lipstick effect,’ a phenomenon backed by science. A study by Edith Cowan University, Australia showed that a majority of women felt more self-confident when they swiped on some lip colour. Going the classic red route is great but it’s time we gave other unusual colours their share of make-up real estate in our vanities. Lately, celebrities like Kajol and Sara Ali Khan have been serving up some inspiring, confidence-boosting beauty looks wearing a statement lip. We kick off our list with Sara’s turquoise blue lip. For a defined lip like the actor, start by lining your lips with a liner or lip colour and then fill them in.
