The Grand Finale at Amazon India Fashion Week Spring Summer ’18 concluded last night with quite a stellar show — designers Rina Dhaka, Rohit Gandhi & Rahul Khanna, Ashish N Soni, Krishna Mehta and Pankaj & Nidhi sent models down a shiny mirrored ramp decked in their ‘see now buy now’ festive prêt collections, but it was Suneet Varma’s couture collection that, perhaps, stole the show.
Celebrating 30 years in fashion, Suneet’s SS18 limited edition collection Garden of Eden featured 37 exquisite ensembles, each equal parts unique and grand. Heavily-embellished lehengas and saris in festive colours were accentuated with feathers and intricate floral embroidery work, making us wonder about the number of manhours spent on each piece. Each look got more opulent and extravagant, until the last segment which had five models looking like bejewelled princesses in their heavily sequinned gowns, complete with headpiece and veil.
The highlight of the show was undoubtedly the red A-line gown with a sweetheart neckline that won all the applause.
