It doesn’t take UK-based beauty blogger Kaushal a lot to rack up over a million views on her YouTube channel (KaushalBeauty) for festive and celebrity-inspired make-up tutorials. Her easy breakdowns have found a loyal following in make-up novices, and she’s undoubtedly the most glamorous of the lot. We chatted with her about everything that goes into the making of a successful tutorial, and the beauty essentials she won’t live without.
ELLE: A few tricks that help your make-up look flawless?
Kaushal: Right after applying foundation, I spritz my face with a setting spray, and push it in with a beauty sponge to make my base last longer. I also line my lips after I’ve applied lipstick to make the edges smoother and neater.

ELLE: What’s the skincare routine of a make-up junkie, like you?
K: My ethos is that if I’m spending 20 minutes putting my make-up on, I’m going to spend 20 minutes taking it off. I double-cleanse with a cleansing oil and water-based cleanser, then tone and follow it with a thick layer of moisturiser.
ELLE: What are your beauty kit essentials?
K: A subtle highlighter like the one Khloé Kardashian wears while she works out, a spray-on body oil to moisturise on-the-go, and my NYX Lip Liner in Mahogany.
