Tarun Tahiliani channels old world Mughal glamour at Lakme Fashion Week
Even Padma Lakshmi couldn't resist its charms...
‘Chashme Shahi’ read the name of the collection and old school Mughal glamour dictated the tone of the evening. When you tore your eyes away from the delicate strands of mogra suspended over the runway, there were the clothes themselves to look at.
Headlined by the fierce and fabulous Padma Lakshmi in a textured white lehenga, models took to the runway in an assortment of draped sari-gowns, Grecian togas, gypsy blouses and cold-shoulder gowns. In a colour progression of white, beige, jade and black, the designs boasted of Mughal arches and florals, all embellished with a generous smattering of Swarovski crystals. Padma Lakshmi ended the night in a paneled brocade lehenga, because when it comes to Tarun Tahiliani, who can stop at just one?
