Jacqueline Fernandez can’t be the only one representing the 90’s with her brown lips and bum bags. We bet you’ve rocked a choker on more than one night out as well. But there’s one thing all of us have to be happy about leaving in the past, and that is stripping down after leaving the house because your parents just don’t get fashion.
A 14-year-old Jacqueline used to buy out the basics section at TopShop along with her older sister, Kim, and rock the slip as outerwear. “When it comes to fashion, I think it was really skimpy stuff and I remember we used to get shouted at by our parents like, ‘What are you wearing?’.” The actress, who recently performed showstopper duties for Manish Malhotra at Lakmé Fashion Week, apparently started the trend of wearing innerwear as outerwear before it ever made it to the ramp. And after she failed her parents’ inspection, Jacqueline would do what every teenage girl around the world has done: throw something long and respectable enough over her dress to make it out of the house and then, discard it.
“I think I get a lot of inspiration from the looks I did back then and honestly, those were my favourites.” Let’s just hope we don’t catch Jacquelne discarding layers before hitting the red carpet because with all the paparazzi around, there’s no hiding that from her parents.
