When your skin becomes friendly with gravity, jars of creams, lotions and oils aren’t going to cut it. It’s time you recognise the face as a mass of sinews and muscles that need as much attention as the skin that covers it. Even a five-minute rub-down will get your blood gushing, reduce swelling and give you firmer and brighter skin.
It’s a simple hands-on technique you can do at home before you go to bed. Take a few drops of your favourite face oil or cream between your palms and lightly brush your face with upward strokes – start at your neck and work your way up to the cheekbones. Make sure you apply enough pressure to stimulate your muscles. The repeated movement will give you a natural face-lift. Then, with your ring finger gently massage the area around your eyes in circular motion to reduce puffiness. Start at the inner corners of your eyes and move towards the outer end of your eyebrows. Next, place the knuckles of your first two fingers under your jaw and work the length between your chin and ear to reduce sagging. Try doing this a few times a week and soon your skin will feel refreshed from the extra workout.
