Shivan & Narresh aren’t the only designers to head south. Delhi-based designers Abraham & Thakore, Namrata Joshipura, Neeru Kumar, Pankaj & Nidhi, Payal Pratap and Rajesh Pratap Singh have all set up shop in Bengaluru. The location? The Leela Palace Bangalore’s newly launched mall – The Collonnade.
Previously called The Leela Galleria, the newly re-launched shopping destination hopes to give Bengaluru residents a modern retail experience, wherein they can shop from a unique collective of lifestyle brands. From couture garments and fashion jewellery, to accessories and home décor pieces, and even an art gallery – Mahua Art Gallery – the Collonnade hopes to be a one-shop destination in the city.
The brainchild of Amruda Nair, head of corporate asset management for The Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts, and the re-launch was designed to make The Collonnade a “hub for the country’s top design talent”. Nair said, “We looked at the retail experience, the fashion experience, the product design experience – what makes a business. We thought, let's erase all those rules and do something different. We decided to create a new platform to introduce a multi-brand, curated retail experience. This dovetails nicely with The Leela brand’s vision which is to deliver the essence of India.”
The Collonnade has standalone boutiques that span three floors of the ten-storeyed building. Anita Dongre and Gem Palace are a few of the other boutiques that are scheduled to open at The Collonnade.
