Confession: A couple of months back, I signed up on TikTok when the Jonas Brothers recreated the iconic Keeping up with the Kardashians scene, but dismissed it soon after. Fast forward to being bored in the house (and in the house bored!), I decided to scroll through for some laughs. This deep dive left me with–to my surprise–a few handy beauty tricks that completely changed the way I do make-up. For every dance challenge and lip-syncing video, there is a jaw-dropping hack, courtesy of beauty TikTok creators. There’s no time like now to practice your make-up skills, whether you’re an eyeshadow novice or looking for a way to make your skin look filtered IRL, these videos have got you covered. Ahead, the best lessons from the pros:

How to blend your eyeshadow like a pro
Take some loose translucent powder in a fluffy brush to blend your eyeshadow seamlessly. I don’t like to spend a lot of effort doing my eye make-up and this tip made it 100x times easier to blend cream shadow.

How to ace your base

Prep your face with moisturiser, then seal in the hydration with loose powder, setting spray and a primer. Top this up with foundation and you’re set. This trick worked pretty well for my oily skin as well.

How to remove falsies correctly
Vaseline. Yes, the most hardworking beauty product of all time will once again transform your beauty routine. Take a dollop of petroleum jelly on a Q-tip and apply it on the base of your false lashes to peel them off without damaging your natural eyelashes.

How to exfoliate your skin
Applying a homemade mask turmeric powder, chickpea flour and yoghurt to soothe acne-prone skin may be a common, but the real trick here is to make sure you let the mask dry completely. Then, rub it off your face, instead of rinsing it. For sensitive skin, dampen an old towel and gently scrub off the residue.

How to get razor-sharp winged liner
While this trick is for brows, it works equally well to apply eyeliner as well. Dip a tapered liner brush in lash glue and let it dry. Then, use gel liner to create the perfect cat-eye look.
