Rainbow-panelled lehengas, sequins as bright as light bulbs and the glamorous kitsch that’s synonymous with Manish Arora, were all on display at his couture show last night. The designer showcased his Indian line, featuring gold rexine embroidery with psychedelic references. The designer merged Indian and western sensibilities to create a collection tailor-made for the fun, eclectic bride.
There was the peacock motif that took centre stage, with textured, appliqué and zari versions, as well as intricate gold and pearl embroidery and Japanese Temari embroidery that illustrated the art of this detailed technique through geometric and futuristic patterns.
