Wills Lifestyle India Fashion week finished on the high note of Namrata Joshipura's futuristic show. Fierce, robotlike models striding down an LED-lit runway gave us two of our favourite looks of the day. The designer's love for embellishment turned PYT-pretty with a quilted canvas of florals and a swishy peplum hem - a high-fashion alternative to your regular day dress. For the night stepper, Joshipura offered a slinky version of the jumpsuit - beaded in gold and black, to create the illusion of metallic pleats. Earlier in the day, Mrinalini's fluid minimalism - in tones of khaki and layered to give the traditional salwar kameez a modern update - called to mind desert nomads. Sahil Kochhar made a strong debut with his texture-heavy collection that had everyone sit up and notice his handiwork. The stand-out look? A tribal tunic dress with a structured hem worn with embroidered leggings. Veteran designer Anita Dongre took the glocal route with ethnic prints and vintage Indian silver jewellery. The tasselled cape over printed separates, paired with ikat wedges, topped our winter wish list.
