When Longchamp, one of the world’s most lauded luxury brands arrives on your shores, you go all out with the welcoming committee. Which is why Mumbai entrepreneur and brand partner Radha Kapoor threw open her palatial sea-facing childhood penthouse in Mumbai for an exclusive inaugural party, co-hosted by Elle. Longchamp’s artistic director Sophie Delafontaine, herself a third-generation entrepreneur in the fashion industry, couldn’t help but joke, “So this is what the average home in Mumbai looks like? It’s completely exceeded all my expectations.”
In between sips of the finest French champagne and generous helpings of caviar, guests from the worlds of fashion, hospitality, publishing and film expressed their love for the brand to the artistic director, who was on her maiden visit to India. Vaani Kapoor even got a chance to model the Longchamp limited edition shoulder bag — so exclusive, only four of them exist in the world — inspired by the colours of Holi.
Sense8 star Tina Desai was besieged with questions about the show’s upcoming two-hour finale, while Swara Bhaskar and Ali Fazal exchanged notes on their upcoming films. Nimish Shah, Pooja Dhingra and Payal Khandwala were inseparable through the night, while vlogging sensation Sherry Shroff held court with Nykaa’s Ashita Misquitta and Vu Technology’s Devita Saraf.
