Top rated hospitality and celebrity-favoured, Virgin Atlantic is the only way to travel

Virgin Atlantic’s new Upper Class Cabin has a fabulous feel-good factor. Virgin has always been about the hospitality, the warmth, the cheer… qualities that all the hospitality staff display to perfection from greeting you on-board with a glass of bubbly, to 5-star multi-course service up in the sky… it’s a dream. They even help you make your bed and solve any puzzling queries you may have while you’re sky bound.

The new planes have several improvements on-board from the seats and the slide down beds, to screen sizes. Also, every seat now faces the window while still giving you aisle access. You still have the on-board bar with some smashing cocktails and service as well as a 32-inch TV you could log into with your Bluetooth. Goes without saying, the flight has high speed Wi-Fi keeping you connected throughout your journey.

Another advantage of flying Virgin is the connectivity on various routes. Virgin has started daily flights from Mumbai to Heathrow in addition to its already existing Delhi service. The Heathrow–JFK flight is on the new A350–1000. And if you’re travelling somewhere within Europe, then you can also take Flybe, Europe’s largest low-cost carrier, which is also now part of Virgin Airlines. You can ask for connectivity straight through, depending on the number of bags you’re carrying, of course!

The biggest treat at London Heathrow is the Virgin Clubhouse. You arrive at the Clubhouse via limo service, and Virgin promises you a queue-free security experience and check-in… allowing you to be escorted to the clubhouse in 10 minutes. The Clubhouse has multiple lounges, a deli bar, à la carte menu and cocktails. You can also use the revival lounge on the way to or from JFK for a shower or get a massage at the spa. There’s also a lovely rooftop terrace, or you could just snooze in one of the comfy armchairs and watch the planes take off from your indoor vantage point. It’s like having your own private airport.

If you’re travelling Upper Class you’re bound to come across a few celebrities. We bumped into Emilia Clarke and Rose Leslie from Game of Thrones, nestled cosily in their suite enjoying the in-flight entertainment. A visit to the clubhouse didn’t give us any other celebrity sightings but there were two tables reserved in the main lounge for any unexpected visitors nonetheless.
