What goes on within Diesel’s Denim Master Studio

Just when we thought all denims were made equal, Diesel introduced us to their Denim Master Studio. The service lets you customise any pair of denims you’re planning to buy from the store. We picked out a rugged jacket before we entered the newly carved space in the basement of their suburban outlet in Mumbai.

Next, we browsed through a selection of embroidered patches – some military-inspired, some with a punk vibe, and yet others with references to the Illuminati. We chose to add some pops of colour with these patches to offset the acid-washed denim; they were promptly fixed in place with an iron press.

To toughen it up further, we rifled through the rivets on offer, which was an assortment of pointy studs, silver and gold stars, and some colourful metallic ones too (for the truly adventurous). We zeroed in on the silvery stars, but kept it subtle by adding just three around the pockets. The whole process takes only about 15 minutes, if you’re quick to decide what goes where. Though, in retrospect, we can easily imagine a smattering of rock studs going around the back of the jacket. Perhaps we’ll save this idea for round two?
