Kanye West kicked off New York Fashion Week and finally unveiled Yeezy Season 1 – his apparel and footwear collection for adidas Originals – where he proved he’s our only hope for world peace.
How else do you explain Kim Kardashian and Beyoncé sharing the front row? For a long time now, it was rumoured that Queen Bey wasn’t quite vibing with Kardashian, which is why she didn’t turn up at Yeezy’s wedding. But they shared the FROW last night. They were joined by a battalion of celebrities: Jay Z, Rihanna, Russell Simmons, Justin Bieber and Alexander Wang.
North filled the pre-show air with her cries (d’aww) perched on her mommy’s lap. And the ‘Kardashians’ came out in full force: Kris and Kendall in the audience, and Kylie made her ramp debut.
But most importantly stop to notice how West swiftly erased his fashion wrongs. His Spring/Summer 2012 show bombed spectacularly. There was some whining about Fendi rejecting his leather jogging pants: “We brought the leather jogging pants six years ago to Fendi, and they said, ‘No.’ How many motherfuckers you done seen with a jogging pant?”
All of that is behind him now. Especially now that his body stockings, military parkas, distressed jumpers, and Yeezy Boost sneakers have been so well received.
