Highly acclaimed for its legacy of rare designs and intricate craftsmanship, Zoya, the exquisite diamond boutique from the House of Tata, is changing the perception of jewellery for 21st-century women. Drawing inspiration from iconic destinations, history, culture, art and legends, the luxury atelier amalgamates its Indian roots with contemporary elements to curate collections that help women reconnect to their femininity. And the maison’s new line, titled Samāvé, is no exception.
The Collection
Designed with clean lines in rose and white gold, Zoya’s new autograph collection encapsulates the brand’s heritage of inspired design and technical expertise. The visual vocabulary of this stunning all-white line seamlessly interprets architectural elements from India’s ancient stepwells into a unique design language. Offering a versatile selection of rings, earrings, necklaces and bracelets, Samāvé is handcrafted for the Zoya woman who harbours an eye for excellence, a taste for beauty and curiosity for meaning.
Through this collection, Zoya marks its foray into the realms of patents as for the very first time, the atelier presents its registered patent called the ‘Zoya Baoli’ setting. The iconic setting will feature in future collections that will further evolve into a distinctive brand identifier.
The Craftsmanship
Handcrafted one piece at a time, Zoya’s signature setting depicts labour of love and a demonstration of technical mastery. Based on their precise cuts and ability to survive intense heat, only the finest quality diamonds are handpicked for the Samāvé collection. These carefully selected stones are then placed at unconventional angles to seamlessly match the geometry of the outer square, which gives birth to the dynamic play between light and shadows.
The inaccessibility of the inner areas of the setting poses a challenge for precision in shaping, making traditional prongs impossible to use. Samāvé’s unique setting is then achieved through the very precise casting of diamonds directly into the gold. While on the flip side, the tiny azure-cut windows behind the stones facilitate space for polishing tools, which eventually result in the impeccable finish that is now parallel with the quintessential Zoya offerings.
The Philosophy
The collection celebrates the Zoya woman as she navigates the uneven terrains of life, reconnects with her feminine power and the warm relationships that nourish her. Merging a connection between her past and the present, Zoya interprets this inspiration into stylised elements in a stepwell leitmotif, creating masterpieces that are lustrous reminders of the eternal power of the feminine spirit.
“Zoya has always challenged traditional notions that endorse the view that jewellery was meant to display one’s status and be worn sparingly. Samāvé is designed to make your daily wear meaningful, with artistic pieces that reflect your individuality, resonate with personal meaning, are crafted to be wearable and celebrate your everyday life,” says Amanpreet Ahluwalia, Business Head, Zoya.
Samāvé is now available in Zoya boutiques in Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore; in Zoya Galleries in Ahmedabad, Chennai and Kolkata; or online via www.zoya.in.
