ELLE: Tell us about some challenges you face as a content creator.
Aayushi Badheka (AB): The challenges I face as a content creator are very diverse, one of them being a lack of work-life balance. While social media is often used for entertainment by many, creators are expected to be active on social media at all times as it’s a part of their job. This often blurs the line between personal life and work. Secondly, constant changes in platform algorithms can leave creators feeling lost without a clear direction. There is often no update or set memo detailing how the algorithm has changed and what actions would help improve engagement, leading to uncertainty and the need for continuous adaptation.
ELLE: Being a content creator, do you take micro trends in beauty and fashion seriously or love to stick to the classics?
AB: Trends are ever-changing, with something new being talked about every day. While I’m not the biggest fan of everything that trends, my love for classics stays strong. However, as a content creator, I need to try fashion trends that I enjoy and share them with my audience, adding a personal touch, of course. I dive into a few trends and share them with my audience.
ELLE: Walk us through your wardrobe and tell us about your favourite fashion piece, it can be an attire or an accessory.
AB: My favourite staple pieces in my wardrobe have to be a mix of basics with a pinch of extra. I’m in awe of flowy/structured solid dresses and co-ord sets. The second thing that tops my list are waistcoats and blazers because they make up for the best add-on. One can also find footwear like metallic heels, clear heels, loafers, espadrilles, and slides etc. In the end, my staple accessories are anything gold!
ELLE: As a content creator, do you feel the need to woo the GenZ audience, as they are the most active ones on social media?
AB: Honestly, no. It’s very important to know the right audience for your content and the people who will be able to make the most of it from the content.
ELLE: Social media is blamed for incepting insecurities in women. Being a creator do you think social media is misleading in some ways?
AB: While insecurities can be triggered by absolutely anything, social media can indeed contribute to insecurities in women and individuals in general, as it often presents an idealised and curated version of reality. As a content creator, I believe it’s important to recognise the potential for social media to be misleading and to strive for authenticity and transparency in my content. By showcasing a more realistic portrayal of life, including its imperfections and challenges, I hope to contribute to a more positive and balanced representation on social media.
