Bella Hadid’s Denim Skirt, Cowboy Boots And Corset Proves ‘Cowboycore’ Isn’t Going Anywhere In AW ’24

If you thought it might be time to hang away your suede jackets and cowboy boots now that AW24 has arrived, then Bella Hadid has stepped out in New York to show you otherwise.

On Wednesday evening, the model was seen walking hand-in-hand with her cowboy boyfriend Adan Banuelos in NoHo with a group of friends, continuing to prove that the Western winds are still blowing over fashion and pop-culture.

Months after country music made its resurgence thanks to the likes of Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter, Sabrina Carpenter’s Please Please Please and Shaboozey’s A Bar Song (Tipsy), we’ve seen countless iterations of cowboycore fashion taking over the runway. There was Pharell Williams’ debut Louis Vuitton Men’s AW ’24 twist on western fashion, boho chic at new creative director Chemena Kamali’s first Chloé collection, and Molly Goddard’s high-necked, pointed collar and floral-embellished AW ’24 collection at London Fashion Week back in February.

Now, Hadid is championing the trend during New York Fashion Week. For the outing with her partner, the model wore a pair of chocolate brown cowboy boots, a long denim skirt and a tan-hued western-style corset with stitching down the front. She styled the look with a brown leather bag and wore her long brown hair loose.

While western-inspired fashion has made the sartorial world giddy in recent months, we expect its popularity to wane come SS ’25, so we advise you make the most of your denim maxi skirts, cowboy boots and suede cover ups while you can this season.

“Cowgirlcore has been one of the biggest trends of 2024, thanks to Beyoncé, Bella Hadid and brands like Molly Goddard and Ganni going big all things Western in their new collections,” explains ELLE UK’s Site Fashion Editor Clementina Jackson. “But as we know all too well, things move quickly in fashion, so make the most of the aesthetic while you still can for AW ’24 by embracing the final remnants of the obsession, that has taken on a decidedly boho twist. Think suede jackets and dark denims with Chloé’s studded ankle boots to keep the look fresh.”

Touches of western-esque looks have been seen at NYFW – see Ralph Lauren’s check prints, fringing and equestrian details like horse bit fastenings – but the trend will likely gallop (we couldn’t resist) towards a more preppy aesthetic come spring next year. More Hamptons, less Texas.

Hadid and Banuelos are believed to have begun dating in October 2023 after they were seen kissing and holding hands. With a shared love of horseriding, Banuelos is an accomplished rider and best known as the 2020 Futurity Champion and has been inducted into the NCHA Hall of Fame in 2017.
