It’s that time of the year again when everything is bright and cheery. Yes, the festive season makes a return and we can’t wait to prep up our homes, dress up for those Diwali parties and have the best time with friends and family!
But what about romance? Well, that’s also on the cards, albeit in a modern avatar. While grand gestures and gifting continue to have its place, shared responsibilities feature on top of the list for most Indians, suggests a recent survey by Bumble.
According to the women-first dating and social network, 9 in 10 Indians believe in equal contributions from their partners in planning the festivities.
Traditionally, women have led the charge for planning on most festive occasions. However, with equality becoming more prevalent in modern-day relationships, 51% of the people surveyed on one of India’s best dating apps, are excited about the prospect of teamwork to bond better.
That’s not all. More than 1 in 3 Indians are open to equal contributions but recognise that certain adjustments may be necessary to bring about this change.
Pracheta Mazumdar, Bumble’s Senior Marketing Manager for APAC, says, “As the festive season approaches and celebrations come alive, shared responsibilities are becoming increasingly important in relationships. Bumble’s research shows that for 1 in 2 Indians, equality in managing festive tasks is a green flag. This can be decorating, planning gatherings, or shopping—because it fosters stronger connections.”
It’s also an exciting time to connect with new people on Bumble during the festive season. A good idea is to highlight how much you resonate with the idea of shared responsibilities, making it easier to find a partner who has a similar outlook.
“You can mention your approach to balance on your Bumble profile—whether through an Opening Move or your profile bio —to find someone who shares your outlook and is ready to team up for the festivities,” adds Mazumdar.
Bonding Beyond Boundaries
There are some fun ways to bond with your partner during the festive season, says Bumble India’s relationship expert, Ruchi Ruuh.
Festive Market Treasure Hunts:
A simple way to add an element of fun to your festive shopping is to turn it into a playful scavenger hunt. Choose a neighbourhood market, set a budget for each other, and go all out in finding the quirkiest decorations or foods. You will soon realise how exciting it is!
Add A Personal Touch To Traditions:
While there are certain customs and traditions that we’ve been following for a long time, there’s always room to add some unique elements to blend family traditions. You could find some unconventional sweet treats or get creative with the way you decorate your home. All that matters is doing this together!
Plan A Festive Date Night At Home:
With 56% of Indians preferring to stay close to home during the festive season according to the survey*, planning a date at home is on top of the list. Dress up, cook a special meal together or make a creative rangoli. You could amp things up with a movie night, with lots of popcorn and refreshing beverages. Sounds like a plan, doesn’t it?
Click Away:
Making memories is a part of festivals! How about moving away from the regular poses and doing something fun? We give a big thumbs up. Deck up and get clicked as much as you like. Play around with fun poses and unleash your crazy side. After all, it’s these moments that will make your bond stronger.
So, what are you waiting for? Sign up on India’s most equitable dating app, Bumble to Make the First Move and meet new matches who will make the festive season ever more special! After all, a little romance and sparkle didn’t hurt anyone.
The app is free to download and is widely available in the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, and the web.
