Can Glen Powell Adopt Us Too?

While Hollywood heartthrobs typically walk the red carpet with a beautiful woman on their arms, at the premiere of Twisters, Glen Powell took a different approach. The actor, who stars in the sequel to the 1996 classic Twister, brought his dog, Brisket.

Clearly, charisma runs in the Powell family, with the pooch posing for cameras obediently in his A-list owner’s arms.

And as it turns out, Brisket’s attendance at the premiere was no coincidence – the movie actually played an integral part in uniting the pup with his owner.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Powell said adopting Brisket amidst filming Twisters brought him out of a particularly dark place.

“I was going through a breakup [from model Gigi Paris] at the time and was in the middle of Enid, Oklahoma, and I had always wanted a dog,” he explained. “It was something I thought about a lot, but it was somewhere in this coffee shop in Enid…. I don’t even know how to describe it, I just had the desire to be a father.”

He went on to explain how he spotted Brisket on the Instagram page of a rescue shelter, and set out asking anyone he knew who was affiliated with the organisation to help him seal the adoption.

“I literally messaged saying, ‘Please put in a good word for me,’” he told the publication. “I sent them a heartbreakingly depressing video of me [and] why I needed this dog.”

His tactic worked, and Powell took a break from his Twisters schedule to pick up Brisket. But it wasn’t all smooth sailing, with the actor saying managing the demands of being a literal movie star with raising a young puppy sometimes proving difficult.

“He was crate training and all that stuff, so he was crying through the night. I felt like literally a new father, where I wasn’t sleeping while shooting this movie.”

Nevertheless, Brisket clearly charmed Powell – and the entire Twisters crew. “Brisket would just kick it with every department head, and he would sit in my chair and just sleep. I had the most adorable picture of Brisket in my Twisters chair at the rodeo. But he really became sort of a set mascot on that movie. It’s just adorable.”
