Chocolate Silk Is The Newest Colour Trend That Has The Celebrity Stamp of Approval

Chocolate silk

For pumpkin latte lovers like me, fall is an emotion – my mood always picks up the minute Starbucks announces the arrival of their pumpkin menu. Currently, we’re in the middle of the menacing monsoons, but the fall season is about to hit us very soon and there’s nothing like a hair colour experiment to celebrate that. The last few years have witnessed a variety of hair colour trends sweeping the beauty industry by storm—platinum blonde, cherry cola red and even Barbie pink. But this time around, chocolate silk hair is about to convince you to book an appointment at your salon, STAT.

As much as I enjoy subjecting my hair to the wackiest colours, I can’t deny the damage it does and sometimes I can’t even justify the effort it takes to maintain them. In such cases, low-maintenance colours such as chocolate silk are an ideal colour to opt for. A dark brown with a slightly golden balayage, this colour isn’t just versatile for all skin tones but it’s also one that causes a minimal amount of damage. If you’re looking to add some depth and dimension to your usual brown, chocolate silk is the hair colour you need.

Here’s some celebrity-approved inspiration for you to get going on your next hair colour.

Zendaya has been sporting the subdued yet elevated chocolate silk hair look for a while now. Her deep brown hair always seems to be interspersed with a muted golden that isn’t too jarring. This one is ideal for the ones looking to add some dimension to a flat hair colour.

Lucy Hale

Some of us enjoy the golden tones a little more than others. If you’re a fan of chocolate silk but want the golden to overpower it a tad bit like Lucy Hale, choose to let the golden melt down to the ends of your hair.

Kareena Kapoor-Khan

Is there anything Kareena Kapoor Khan can’t rock? The OG trendsetter inspired us to sport frosted lips and honey-blonde hair, and this time she’s convinced us to opt for chocolate silk hair. With a dark brown mane which has tiny specks of golden peeking through, Kareena’s version of this hair colour is mellow yet makes a statement.

Eiza Gonzalez

While she created waves when she dyed her hair platinum blonde for the screening of her film Ambulance, Eiza Gonzalez’ dark brown hair is easily our favourite. The chocolate silk hue accentuates her sharp features, making them stand out even more.

Khushi Kapoor

All set to make her debut with The Archies this year, Khushi Kapoor has always come through with beauty inspo— whether it’s with her hair or her makeup. This hair colour may seem lighter than your usual chocolate silk since the golden tones dominate the brown. However, if you like your browns a little lighter than usual, then this colour is perfect for you.

Camila Morrone

Just like her reel-life character, Camila Alvarez from Daisy Jones and The Six, Camila Morrone embraced the voluminous 70s with a classic blowout and cascading soft waves that let the honey-blond hair peak through her chocolate brown. Choosing to keep the blonde at the tip of your hair instead of your roots will keep the damage at a minimal level.

Kendall Jenner

The supermodel and owner of 818 is known for her jet-black locks which she rarely experiments with. However, sometimes Kendall does away with the black. When she sported the chocolate silk hue, her otherwise dark hair was dyed a deep brown with hints of caramel which added a dash of colour to it.
