Attention all Cruel Intentions fans – which is basically everyone ever – it’s been confirmed that a new TV adaptation is officially on the way, and we can’t wait.
Amazon has placed an eight-episode series order for a TV adaptation of the film which will be released through its streaming service, Prime Video.
The 1999 cult classic tells the tale of two vicious step-siblings of an elite Manhattan prep school who set their sights on the new headmaster’s daughter and featured an A-list cast including the likes of Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillippe and Reese Witherspoon.
So the new TV adaptation has some big shoes to fill.
What Is The Cruel Intentions TV Adaptation About?
The new iteration of Cruel Intentions is based on the same book, Les Liaisons Dangereuses, that the original film was based on. Instead of the lives of private high school students in New York City, this iteration is set in Washington D.C.
The series follows two ruthless step-siblings who will do anything to stay at the top of the Greek Life hierarchy at their elite college.
When a brutal college hazing incident threatens the entire Panhellenic system, they’ll do whatever is necessary to preserve their power and reputations – including seducing the daughter of the U.S. Vice President.
The series adaptation hails from writers Phoebe Fisher and Sara Goodman, Sony Pictures Television, Amazon Studios and Original Film.
Where Can We Watch The Cruel Intentions TV Adaptation?
While the exact premiere date hasn’t been confirmed, we do know the eight-part series will be airing in November on Prime Video.
Prime Video currently features a range of TV hits, including Daisy Jones & The Six, Class Of ’07, The Summer I Turned Pretty, and much more.
