We’re back with our update of all that’s new on the pop culture scene. And this time there’s so much to share! From power-packed performances at music fests to new movies and TV shows announcing their release dates, here’s all you need to know from the week gone by.

1. Priyanka Chopra Jonas turns host for Global Citizen Festival 2021

Concerts are back in action around the world (we’re hoping it can start here too) and the Global Citizen Fest took place in full force. The 24-hour long event was held across six continents–from London to Paris to Rio De Janeiro and Lagos, Nigeria. Global icon Priyanka Chopra Jonas co-hosted the event with Denis Brogniart in Paris and pop singers delivered unforgettable performances. JLo set the stage on fire with hit tracks like Love Don’t Cost A Thing, If You Had My Love, and of course, Jenny From The Block. Other star performers included Lizzo, Shawn Mendes, BTS, Coldplay, Billie Eilish, Meek Mill, among others.

2. Emily In Paris gives its fans a first sneak peek into Season 2 with a teaser trailer

After a successful release last fall, the Lily Collins starrer is set to release on December 22. Netflix dropped a teaser showing what’s to come next with the second installment airing on the streaming platform.  While we’re ready to take notes of all the new fashion moments from Emily, we can’t wait to see how things between her and Gabriel pan out.

3. KJ Apa and Clara Berry welcome their first child together

ICYMI, the Riverdale actor KJ Apa has become a father. He welcomed a baby boy with his girlfriend and model, Clara Berry. Announcing the news and introducing his name to us on Instagram, Clara posted a photo of her baby’s hand wrapped around her finger on her Instagram. “Sasha Vai Keneti Apa, born on the 23rd of September. He is a perfect perfection. I am the luckiest to have now two men of my life, filling my heart with this cosmic gigantic vast love,” Clara wrote.

4. The Crown Season 5 is slated to release in November 2022

Fans of the hit royal show, we’re sorry to break it to you that The Crown’s fifth season will only be out next year. Scoring big at the recently-held Emmys, the critically-acclaimed series will return with an all-new (and reportedly the final) cast playing the British royal family. This includes Imelda Staunton as Queen Elizabeth, Jonathan Pryce as Prince Philip, Lesley Manville as Princess Margaret, Dominic West as Prince Charles, Elizabeth Debicki as Princess Diana, and Olivia Williams as Camilla Parker Bowles.

5. Netflix is set to release a documentary covering Britney Spears’ story conservatorship, among others.

The last year saw the #FreeBritney movement gain momentum and shed light on the pop singer’s conservatorship row. If you want to know all that happened in Britney Spears’ life, save the date for the Netflix docu, Britney VS Spears, releasing on September 28.

6. Tiger King Season 2 is slated for release on November 17

Joe Exotic’s story continues as Netflix announces the second season of the popular documentary. The streaming platform has promised just as much mayhem and madness, only this time without Carole Baskin. The first teaser showed a clip of Joe in prison, which might be the upcoming installment’s focus.

7. Animated movie Mario starring Chris Pratt as Mario and Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach will hit theatres in 2022

Your favourite childhood video game is getting its own animated movie! Super Mario Bros. film is set to release next year. The voiceover cast has an interesting lineup. Chris Pratt plays the role of Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong, among others. Excited much?
