My skin is having pretty good run right now. The pores are small, the blackheads aren’t there and I…dare I say it? I am glowing. And while I want to haughtily say this is happening because I have been eating well and staying hydrated, I know that my dark circles fully intend to play spoilsport. Because while the rest of my face will make you want to ask me my skincare routine, my dark circles will prompt you to ask me if I got into a bar brawl (perhaps) or if I haven’t slept for years (true). In these tumultuous times, eye creams come to the rescue.
Eye creams have been regularly dismissed as just fancy moisturisers but I swear by them to keep my under eye area hydrated and looking supple. I believe most of the claims they put on the eye cream’s boxes. What can I say? I am gullible. But there are a few eye creams that keep the promises they make. Here are the ones that I particularly enjoy.
Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Supercharged Complex
If you’ve been fan of the ANR (who isn’t? The product is so good, it has a cult following), then this eye cream will quickly climb to the top in your list of favourites. This one has a gel-like feel and goes on easy, making your under eye area feel hydrated and like it’s taken a couple of gulps of water. It worked on my dark circles a little bit but no cream is going to be miracle, so let’s not expect that please.
Murad Vita C dark circles eye corrector
Vitamin C in my eye cream? Sure, let’s give that a whirl. I tried this dark circles eye corrector and I come bearing good news. This works. In fact, it works visibly so people asked me why I was looking so fresh and well-rested. Of course, I was sleeping well during this time, but I do think this Murad eye cream had a role to play. It comes with Vitamin C which is touted to be a miracle working, but this one worked at making my under eye area feel loved and nourished.
Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment With Avocado
This is one the brand’s cult products, finding patrons in everyone from me to celebrities. Yes, I do consider myself a bit of a connoisseur when it comes to eye creams and this one comes infused with the goodness of avocado and we know that a skin-loving ingredient. It’s a light green cream and NGL, I did think I would want to whip up a guacamole with it, but I have refrained from doing so. The cream practically glides on, and I would use a tap tap motion to give myself the feels of a self-care routine. It worked!
Charlotte Tilbury Cryo-recovery Eye Serum
There’s something to be said about eye creams/serums that come with metal applicators. When I apply this eye serum, the coolness of the metal tip is always a pleasant surprise. This one works on eye circles but when your entire eye area decides to become a reservoir for the water in your body, this is what you need for some serious depuffing action. Because of the cooling ingredients in this one, your under eye area will look visibly radiant and that excites me to no end.
Kora Organics Noni Radiant Eye Oil
I have been a huge fan of the rose quartz roller I have in my beauty vanity. The Kora Organics Noni Radiant eye oil has my heart because it has a rose quartz roller built in to apply the product. So thoughtful. This product is different in that it is an oil. It has the goodness of coffee oils and marine bamboo extracts and does the job and does it well.
The Glow Recipe Avocado Melt Retinol Eye Sleeping Mask
Okay, I know this is not available in India but OMG. I bought this on a whim with a set of minis from The Glow Recipe and this eye cream has blown my mind. It slides on easy, feels soft and nourishing and to me (I don’t think it was placebo), it smoothed out my under eye area. A win! It comes with retinol so expect some anti-aging action as well. I love this.
Oh, if you are looking to read about environment-friendly beauty brands, I made a list of those.
