There’s one bit of the festive season that I enjoy more than gorging on sweets – that is all of the festive makeup I can play around with. While I enjoy sparkling shimmer over my lids and wearing bold lips all throughout the year, experimenting with makeup in the festive season just feels right, doesn’t it?

While you may already have some cult favourites and newfound gems, it could be time to switch things up a bit. If there’s anybody who could give us two cents about festive makeup it has to be celebrity makeup artists. After all, who wouldn’t want some professional beauty advice from artists who have been creating showstopping looks for Bollywood celebrities for years? We spoke to a few of our trusted beauty experts to find out what beauty products made the cut of their festive secrets and here’s what they had to say.

Namrata Soni

Longtime makeup artist to Sonam Kapoor-Ahuja and Rani Mukerji, Namrata Soni has been inspiring beauty trends and showing us how to effortlessly create makeup looks with ease for as long as we can remember. When she became a beauty entrepreneur with Simply Nam, we knew there wouldn’t be a single miss. She recommends the Simply Nam Velvet Cream Blush in ‘We Go Way Back’ which is a flattering almond brown hue that suits every Indian skin tone. “Its peachy undertone is a colour that’s perfect for the festive season because it’s so versatile, not only can you use it as blush, but you can also use it to contour too,” she explains.

Shradha Luthra

Loved Alanna Panday’s soft, ethereal bridal makeup? You have to credit Shradha Luthra for that. All season long, she has been dolling up brides and bridesmaids with makeup looks that are attuned to the beauty trends of the season. Her favourite foundation for the festive season is the newly launched Very Valentino 24-Hr Liquid Wear Foundation. “I always prefer foundations with a lightweight formula that offers you a skin-like finish, especially in the festive season when you’re going to be outdoors or in the midst of multiple things,” she says. If you’re looking for a foundation with buildable coverage and a long-lasting finish, look no further.

Riviera Lynn

Jahnvi Kapoor’s sparkling and foxy makeup looks find their home in all of our saved folders, courtesy of celebrity makeup artist, Riviera Lynn. No stranger to minimalist and maximalist beauty, she has a penchant for experimenting with concepts and ideas. Choosing shimmer for the festive season, the Isamaya Beauty Industrial Colour Pigments Palette is Lynn’s pick. “The shimmering pigments of this palette give you a wide range of colours to play with, and the payoff is extremely intense. I also love how there is minimal fallout with this!”, she reveals.

Arti Nayar

Having dolled up the likes of Sara Ali Khan, Katrina Kaif and Sonam Kapoor, Arti Nayar has been in the midst of the evolution of makeup techniques and products. As per her, the festive season calls for all things glamourous so what better than a Charlotte Tilbury product? Nayar loves the Pillow Talk Push-Up Lashes Mascara for all the drama it brings to your lashes. “I always reach out to this mascara in the festive season because of the instant volume it gives your lashes without clumping them together. It makes your eyes look bigger and defined,” she says.

Stafford Braganza

For Stafford Braganza, National Education Manager at L’Oreal Luxe it’s extremely crucial to put careful thought into your lipstick choices for the festive season. He believes that you need to opt for a lipstick which feels comfortable on your lips as opposed to feeling heavy. “Lancôme’s L’ABSOLU ROUGE INTIMATTE SOFT MATTE LIPSTICK in 888 French Idole is the ultimate lipstick for the festive season since it offers you a soft matte finish which feels like a second skin on your lips,” he says. He explains that the ceramide-rich formulation is what prevents your lips from drying out even in long wear hours.
