Which Haute Couture Maison Would You Be According To Your Zodiac Sign?

Haute Couture

While our social media feeds are replete with the most outlandish and jaw-dropping moments from the ongoing Haute Couture Week in Paris (shoutout to the robot baby at Schiaparelli), it’s always a delight to witness the ultimate confluence of fashion with theatrics that seem like they’ve been borrowed from Stanley Kubrick movie.

The existence of haute couture itself is polarising. People love debating about the whys and hows when it comes to the ensembles. Another polarising topic for many: zodiac signs and their traits. Now, what if we present you with a concoction of the two? Well, there exists a list. One that pairs up zodiac signs with a haute couture house, suited the most with the quirks of a particular sign. Yes, generalisation is a sin and no, this is not to be taken seriously. And I may or may not be biased in giving my sign the brand of my choice. Read ahead to find out about your pairing.

Aries (March 21 – April 19)

Gaurav Gupta

The creative synergies of this sign are incomparable and this is why Indian couturier Gaurav Gupta’s ethereal gowns fit the bill. The fire sign is brazen, akin to GG’s design signature, one that embraces fierceness with grace.

Taurus (April 20 – May 20)

Alexander McQueen

Yes, this is personal. Having grown up idolising the creations of Alexander and Sarah Burton, the British haute couture maison’s sculptural take on androgyny and unabashed aesthetics is why it’s an instant hit with the head-strong Taureans.

Gemini (May 21 – June 21)

Jean Paul Gaultier

Bubbly, curious and always on the look out for a new interest, it was imperative that we assign Geminis the genius of Gaultier, owing to the air sign’s proclivities for all things change and evolution. If you weren’t aware, Gaultier is known for hosting a collaboration with a new designer every year. Like two peas in a pod.

Cancer (June 22 – July 22)

Maison Valentino

Emotion and empathy – that’s the core of a Cancerian for you. Exemplified by Italian haute couture label Valentino, the iconic maison’s penchant for recreating old Hollywood glamour with an ultra-feminine take unites the two. Softness flows in abundance, here.

Leo (July 23 – August 22)

Versace

Subversive and seductive, Gianni’s baby is well suited for Leos. From their sophisticated bondage gear to maximalist prints borrowing heavily from the logogram mandate, the flashy yet generous sign’s love for OTT glamour is Versace personified.

Virgo (August 23 – September 22)

Dior

Since they’re all very detail-oriented and love to take control of pretty much everything, the sophistication delivered by the very opulent haute couture frontrunner Dior seems like a marriage made in heaven.

Libra (September 23 – October 23)

Ellie Saab

Revered for fitting in anywhere with their intrinsic social graces, Librans are a sure shot disciple of the Ellie Saab troupe. Considered to be the farthest thing from avant-garde, the exquisite, princess-like aesthetics of the house are loved by all.

Scorpio (October 24 – November 21)

Schiaparelli

Notorious for the freakish usage of animal figurines as add-ons in their couture collection, the much-loved haute couture house Schiaparelli sure loves its lobsters and scorpions. The intensity-chasing scorpio clan will easily compliment Daniel Roseberry’s tryst with powerful sartorial storytelling.

Sagittarius (November 22 – December 21)

Viktor & Rolf

Learning never stops for a true Sagi. In their quest for knowledge and related pursuits, the theatric and performance oriented brand Viktor & Rolf is the first to pop up. Every collection is doused in intention, satire and is a reflection of the times we live in. A match made in heaven.

Capricorn (December 22 – January 19)

Robert Wun

The Capris are going to love this. Famous for their meticulous craftsmanship, Robert Wun’s sensibilities are bound to sit right with the goal-oriented Capricorns. The designs are grounded yet experimental, in congruence with the disciplinarian sign’s wicked sense of humour.

Aquarius (January 20 – February 18)

Rahul Mishra

An innovator who sees the world in a unique way, Aquarians and Rahul Mishra are cut from the same cloth. Both idealists, living up to their values via a creative medium of their choice is of utmost importance for the two of them.

Pisces (February 19 – March 20)

Ashi Studio

Fluid and functional, if this water sign had to be a haute couture house, it’d undoubtedly be Ashi Studio. The Middle-Eastern label’s otherworldly designs are the perfect antidote to the sign’s love for daydreaming and escapism.
