The St Mary’s Island should definitely be on your bucketlist. The island, enclosed by the Arabian Sea has one of the most unique views – the beach has basalt rock formations all over making it look like corals and is pretty unique on it’s own. One of the least visited in the local area, this can be the your call for solitude. Also known as Coconut Island, these are a set of four small islands. Do not forget to check out the northernmost island, that has a basaltic rock formation in a hexagonal form, the only one of its type in India. Folklore has it that in the year 1498, Vasco da Gama landed at St. Mary’s Islands on his journey from Portugal and named one of these islands. One can also explore the town of Udupi and discover the cultural heritage that encompasses this small town.
