Recovering from last year’s hiatus, the Padma Awards ceremony for the years 2020 and 2021 were conducted back to back on Nov 8 and Nov 9 respectfully. Winners included notable names like Mary Kom, Kangana Ranaut, PV Sindhu, Ekta Kapoor and many more. President Ram Nath Kovind presented the awards to the recipients at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi. Attendees included Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Union External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar among the others. Divided into three categories-Padma Vibhushan (for exceptional and distinguished service), Padma Bhushan (for distinguished service of a high order) and Padma Shri (for distinguished service), the awards aim to recognise and highlight exceptional work and achievements in the fields of art, sports, social work, public affairs, science and engineering, trade and industry, medicine, literature and education, civil service and others.
