In 2012, the company’s founders observed that individuals would purchase high-end self-care products during their travels overseas due to the limited options available in India. This realization led Kimi Jain, Rica Jain, Mohit Jain, and Rajat Jain to conceptualize an Indian brand that prioritizes a lavish experience using responsibly sourced, effective ingredients. The brand’s vision centred on addressing the gap in the market by offering luxurious products, and they were among the first ones to do so. Thus, Kimirica was born, with a vision to offer luxurious products that would cater to the discerning tastes of Indian consumers.
“The introduction of Kimirica Lifestyle as a direct-to-consumer venture in 2019 was a strategic move to respond to increasing customer demand for safe and effective ingredients that are sustainably and ethically sourced,” stated Mohit Jain, Co-founder and CEO, Kimirica Hunter International and Kimirica Lifestyle. He adds, “The Indian beauty industry was lacking in terms of luxury skincare products, and we saw a significant opportunity to fill that void. We wanted to create a skincare range that not only provided the best products but also had a focus on sustainability and ethical sourcing.”
The founders utilized premium resources and advanced technology to develop a scientific ecosystem for creating skin-friendly formulations that combine plant-based actives with modern science. “We believe that nature provides the best ingredients for healthy, radiant skin,” said Rajat Jain, Lead Perfumer and Co-founder of Kimirica. “Our mission was to create a skincare line that is effective, sustainable, and eco-friendly, and that harnesses the power of plant-powered science.”
The founders were inspired by the ancient Indian science of Ayurveda and gained exposure to the science at a young age. Traditional science emphasizes the use of natural ingredients to balance the mind, body, and soul. They combined this philosophy with modern scientific research to create a line of skincare products that are not only effective but also safe and gentle on the skin. Elaborating on the complex process, Co-founder Rajat Jain shares, “Although merging Ayurveda with modern science presents unique challenges that cannot be solved by following conventional formulation guides or Ayurvedic journals. Since we are combining two distinct sciences, we must innovate and create our own standards. This process requires a complete scientific ecosystem, including extensive research, sourcing, and hundreds of trials. For the past ten years, we have extensively studied both modern science and Ayurveda to achieve the perfect blend of ancient wisdom and scientific innovation.”
“Combining traditional Indian science of Ayurveda with modern science isn’t as easy as it sounds,” said Rajat Jain. “We launched a line of facial serums that merge the traditional principles of Ayurveda with contemporary scientific techniques to deliver exceptional results. Although serums are not explicitly mentioned in Ayurveda, they provide superior performance, so we have formulated our own version by infusing Ayurvedic actives, such as liquorice and turmeric extracts, with alpha hydroxy acid from plant-derived caviar lime.”
