Lakmé Fashion Week X FDCI March 2023: Here’s What We’re Looking Forward To

While we might still be reeling from the fashion weeks concluded at the big 4, our very own Indian fashion week, aka Lakmé Fashion Week in partnership with FDCI is set to make a comeback for its March 2023 edition. Held at the Jio World Garden in Mumbai, the four-day style fiesta kicks off with Day 1 designated to Sustainable Fashion Day and ends on the 12th, Sunday with Manish Malhotra’s prêt collection ‘Diffuse.’

Here’s a look at the entire schedule and key designers set to present their brand new lineups at the awaited fashion event:

Having launched the crème de la crème labels of the Indian fashion industry like Aneeth Arora of Pero, Kallol Datta, Masaba Gupta, and Rahul Mishra, the INIFD presents GenNext Designer Program is back with a bang to introduce its newest batch. Koytoy, KoAi, Rudraksh Dwivedi and Hiro are set to carry the baton forward with their experimental collections and it’s safe to say, we’ll be watching.

R|Elan™ presesnts the Circular Design Challenge

The Circular Design Challenge presented by R|Elan™ is set to celebrate its 5th anniversary and hence, will be hosting a special showcase by three of its notable alumni. Chamar by Sudheer Rajbhar will present their collection ‘Blacking Boot Polish,’ Doodlage by Kriti Tula will be showcase ‘Nostalgia’ and Iro Iro by Bhaavya Goenka is set to present ‘Pyaar’ in all their conscious glory.

Lakmé Salon X Vaishali S

While keeping in touch with the heritage weaving traditions of India, Paris Couture Week alumna Vaishali S’ soon-to-be-presented collection depicts the scary descent in the depths of the oceans and of the self, to discover the beauties that lie within. The beauty team has also decided to only resort to using recycled hair extensions along with eco-friendly colours derived from Ayurvedic ingredients at this Lakmé Fashion Week to keep up with the sustainability mandate. Way to go!

Lakmé Sheer Drama x Tarun Tahiliani Luxe Prêt

With flowy drapes dominating the collection, Tarun Tahiliani’s luxe prêt collection finds its inspiration in the ever-flowing essence of water–one that envelops, surrounds, fills and caresses the wearer with each fold. Forgoing the usual route of embellishing the collection with surface additives, the brand is set to embrace simplicity this time.

Sameer Madan’s Summer Cruise ’23

Titled ‘Untamed,’ Sameer Madan’s glitzy lineup is a nod to the visual aesthetics of the ’80s and ’90s. Propelling power dressing to the forefront, Monica Bellucci – the Italian icon serves as an inspiration in the the faux leather, shoulder pads induced collection. Their lineup also features a splendid array of bodycon dresses, bodysuits, jumpsuits, corsets and pencil skirts at this Lakmé Fashion Week. Leopard print is also said to have a comeback, so, better stock up.

‘Reef’ by Abhishek Sharma Studio

Inspired by the tranquil oasis that is the ocean, the coral reef inspired collection by the couturier employs various techniques of draping, laser cut, couching and intense embellishments with pearls. With shades of aqua, pink and pearl setting the tone for the presentation, the intricate and complex draping with fine silk yarns create an inexplicable texture, distinct to the designer.
