It’s safe to say this week has been a whirlwind for anyone invested in the Lakmē Fashion Week and all the stellar looks that were a part of it. Each designer and brand had their own unique aesthetic, but beauty is the most telling part of any collection’s theme and really strings everything together cohesively- the shape and colour given to the models’ lips, the way their hair is done or the contouring given to their bodies really will clue you in to where the designer has drawn their inspiration from and how they want you to interpret their clothing. That’s what makes beauty an art form in itself.
After the trends that dominated the runway in the first half of the week, we’re back to break down all the trends we spotted during the last glorious half, when everything got bigger and better. Read on for all the deets!
The Side Part Makes A Comeback
After years of the middle part playing the role of good cop, the side part is finally having its moment in the spotlight. Not only do side parts make you look more youthful and bring out your jawline better, they can often bring more of a voluminous look to otherwise flat hair. It’s a good thing then that men and women all through the week were sporting this look.
Defined Brows
Brows can change your entire face quicker than you can say “definition”. Filled in, well shaped and tinted brows were all the rage on the runway, so it might be time to hone your skill of defining your brows for all those night-outs.
Chic Low Knot
There’s absolutely nothing we love more than a chic, low bun on those bad hair days, when not even dry shampoo can salvage that grease-fest. This part of the clean girl aesthetic is here to stay for good, and we’re basking in its glory.
Bold Red Lips
Everyone has a love-hate relationship with this shade of lipstick. You can either look Parisian with a bold red lip, or like the Red Queen from Alice In Wonderland. There’s absolutely no in-between. BUT, if you figure out the perfect shade of red for your complexion, you’re pretty much indestructible and are sure to be the classiest person in the room.
The Y2K Spikey Bun
Walk out the door looking like one of Charlie’s Angels with the gone, but never forgotten spikey bun from the crevices of your childhood/adolescence. There’s something so empowering about this hairdo, and let’s be honest, I’d do it just for the sake of nostalgia.
