Meet Mevin Murden, Istituto Marangoni Mumbai’s Newly Appointed Director Of Education

Istituto Marangoni, Mumbai is all set to sail forward with its newly appointed Director of Education, Mevin Murden, who holds more than a decade of experience in the international luxury sector under his belt across various verticals such as hospitality, cosmetics, fragrances, fashion, events, and the arts.

After having been a spirited participant in the launch of Istituto Marangoni’s Mumbai School in 2017, he is back again to India from the London School and intends to strategically guide the academic team in the efficient implementation of Fashion Design, Fashion Styling and Fashion Business programmes, while also actively re-defining the institution’s learning experience. His main goals are to bring in the latest innovations and factors shaking the fashion and design industry such as sustainability and technology.

With inspiration to add to India’s growing talent, Mevin Murden, newly appointed Director of Education, Istituto Marangoni, Mumbai said “I am honoured and excited to be in India, a place with such rich culture and heritage which really enhances what students are able to produce in terms of design and aesthetics, but also being part of this ever evolving growing luxury market.”

He has worked with some of the most prominent names in the luxury industry. A few of them include Cerruti, Armani, Oberoi, Cartier and Rolex. He is passionate about luxury brand management and gets a dopamine rush when asked about neuromarketing and neo-craftsmanship.

Murden spent seven years studying at Universities around the world, including La Trobe University in Australia, Manchester Metropolitan University in the United Kingdom, the Institute of Art, Design and Technology in Ireland, and Harvard University Extension School (USA). He has also spent the past seven years teaching in London and has led industry projects for students with brands such as Alexander McQueen, Vivienne Westwood, Saint Laurent, Mackintosh, Burberry, Mantero. Loro Piana, Paul Smith, Zaha Hadid, Dae Wha Kang, Elle and GQ.

He has created a name for himself in the industry, winning accolades such as Best Strategic Marketing Tutor by the Association of Business Executives UK (2010) and won the Best Tutor Award by Istituto Marangoni London (2014).
