This menswear season had us on the edge of our seats ready to decode every trend we saw on the runway. We take you through the trends that took this season by storm. Trends came in a variety of colours, prints, fabrics and silhouettes. Don’t go unnoticed or let these go forgotten and pick your favourites and must haves asap.

Good Ol’ Turtleneck

A smart fashion choice because turtlenecks look good on literally everybody and can be layered underneath any jacket. Designers like Etro, Tod’s, Fendi, Dior and Louis Vuitton showcased a variety of printed, colourful and cropped turtlenecks for FW 2022. While turtlenecks have been around since time immemorial, this season as long as you’re wearing a turtleneck of some sort, you’re on trend.

Structured Shoulders

This season, your shoulders will definitely do the talking & the responsibility of amping up your style rests on them. From extravagantly large shoulder silhouettes to geometrically perfect precision cuts, structured shoulders are big. A dramatic structured shoulder instantly adds power to your silhouette and is the best shape to wear when you need a little confidence boost.

Bag It Up

Take all you got and not just all you need. Carry it with you in style, it’s all about bags this season. Why stop at one? Fendi showcased their collections teamed up with a sling and top handle bags styled on a single look. Duffels dominated Louis Vuitton. A number of styles from clutches, shoulder bags, cross body to totes were all present in a variety of shows this season.

Headgear

From caps to eclectic balaclavas and everything in between, headgear and accessories were big this season. Almost as if the outfit isn’t complete without them. Comme Des Garcons & Jil Sanders had some of the most off beat versions while Dior sported sleek variations. On the other hand, Junya Watanabe went all out with a very whimsical & fun take on hats.

Living in Leather

Leather takes over the runways in an obvious way. From pants to jackets, in every colour you could dream up. If leather isn’t your thing, then vegan and PVC are hot on the trails making bold statements this fashion week.

Polo Shirts

Not just for school boys anymore, the polo neck t-shirt makes a comeback. This comfy new staple can be worn down or dressed up depending on what the situation calls for. One thing for sure, is you won’t be out of place, always looking chic in one of these.

Varsity Jackets

The rise and fall of varsity jackets happens every few years and I am definitely happy to see them on the rise again. Forget the dusty, high school ex boyfriend’s hand me down and go thrive in one of these brightly coloured and ever so stylish jackets.

Red, Set, Go

Statement reds are taking over unabashedly. We are done with muted tones and subtle silhouettes this season. It is time to bring out the colour, get noticed, break some rules (even if they’re fashion). Red is the colour of love and we do love what’s happening here.

Perfectly Patterned

Mismatched and mental is how we have thrived through the last couple of chaotic years. If wearing what you are was a thing, then this trend has something for everyone. Complete with neat but neon checks to graffiti’d clothing, the runways came alive this season with this fun loving, albeit crazy trend.
