While Millie Bobby Brown may not be my friend, our mutual love for cheese would be enough for a friendship to blossom. Recently, she announced her engagement to her longtime boyfriend, Jake Bongiovi and apart from the Taylor Swift lyric she used to caption her picture and that rock on her finger, my attention was on her glazed nails. Gone are the days when we relied on classic French tips or neutral nails as our top choice for an engagement manicure. With a barrage of nail trends sprouting every season, there’s no dearth of options to choose from.
Here are a few non-traditional engagement manicures you can sport.
Holographic Glaze
While we saw Millie with glazed nails, the holographic version of it is a refreshing upgrade. The OG trend involves using chrome dust to coat your translucent pink nails. Switch things up a tad bit by using holographic dust in hues of purple and blue.
Vampy Vibes
Okay, we know long claws aren’t everyone’s cup of tea, and neither is the striking hue. But if Vanessa Hudgens sported ox-blood-hued stiletto nails when Cole Tucker popped the question, then maybe it’s worthwhile. Vampy tones ranging from burgundy to deep purples are quite the statement maker.
Delicate Swirls
We’re still not over the abstract swirls trend. A versatile one that allows you to keep things minimalist or maximalist with your nails, this trend allows you to share a bit of your personality through your nails. Keep it simple with a nude pink base and classic white swirls (yep, a big rock would look great on this one) or unleash your creativity with some colour.
Blushy Baby
A personal favourite that I always go back to, blush nails are the cooler older sister of ombre nails. Here, the design begins from the centre of the nail as opposed to the tip or the bottom, giving it a coquette vibe.
Colourful Tips
Yep, we said it, French tips are oh-so-boring now. The usual French mani can be spruced up by adding a dash of colour to the tips. You can either opt for a single colour for all of your nail tips or if you’re feeling feisty, go berserk with rainbow colours, one for each tip.
Rose Quartz Energy
Mimicking the look of the elegant rose quartz crystal, these nails are a perfect rendition of it. Using a baby pink hue with a jelly finish as the base along with a milky white polish will give you a gorgeous manicure waiting to be accessorised with a diamond.
Groundbreaking Florals
Florals aren’t always for spring! This one’s for those who prefer keeping their nails minimal with the usual pale pink base coat but still enjoy some floral drama on it.
