new shows

It’s too hot to venture outside and at this point, we simply want to grow roots in front of our AC and lie supine while we sip on iced drinks and eat popcorn. And because the most uphill task here is finding something to watch, we are here to help. Simply scroll through our list that features a slew of exciting new shows and films streaming on OTT platforms this month. From the much-anticipated prequel of Bridgerton, to JLo’s gripping action thriller, here are 7 new releases to add to your binge-watch roster in the first of May.

1. Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story

With its steamy, slow burn romance, and a nod to inclusive casting, the regency-era period drama Bridgerton made quite the waves with its first two seasons. While the Daphne-Simon and Kate-Anthony dynamic grabbed massive attention, viewers also loved the bold, unabashed yet soft nature of Queen Charlotte. And that’s probably why the show runners have decided to launch a prequel, Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story. The official synopsis reads, “Young Queen Charlotte’s marriage to King George of England sparks an epic love story and transforms high society in this Bridgerton universe prequel.” TBH, we’re quite excited to see the romance between Charlotte and George unfold.

6. Saas Bahu Aur Flamingo

Indian sitcoms have often put ‘saas-bahu’ dramas into one bucket, where the ruthless mother-in-law always finds fault with an innocent daughter-in-law. Adding a new spin to this common stereotype, Saas Bahu Aur Flamingo shows an unapologetically hardcore mother-in-law with strong and tenacious younger women, while focussing on the power dynamics between them. The series feature Dimple Kapadia, Radhika Madan, Isha Talwar and Angira Dhar.
