8 New Shows & Films To Watch On OTT Platforms This August

There are so many new releases on OTT platforms this August that we just had to make another list for it. And as we know you’re always on the hunt for new shows and films, we make it simple for you. Here’s your queue to add all the new releases on Netflix, Disney+ Hotstar and Apple Tv+ to your August watch-list.

1. Delhi Crime Season 2

Becoming the first and the only Indian series ever to win an International Emmy (the show received Outstanding Drama Series award in 2020), Delhi Crime is all set to release the next season. While the first season focused on the aftermath of the heinous 2012 Nirbhaya case in Delhi, the second intalment follows inspectors Vartika (Shefali Shah) and Neeti (Rasika Dugal) chasing a gang involved in the brutal murder of senior citizens in the 1980s. While the case is the central plot, the series will also shed light into the personal lives of both the leading officers.

2. The Next 365 Days 

After nearly four months of Netflix releasing the sequel of 365 Days, the reigning softcore porn film’s third installment also drops. If it isn’t obvious yet, Laura is very much alive in The Next 365 Days (she survives after being shot by Massimo’s evil twin, Adriano). However, things don’t go back to normal for her. She is torn between her marriage to Massimo and her sexual desires for Nacho. What you’ll see is Laura trying to figure out who she chooses to be with.

3. HIT – The First Case

The Rajkummar Rao and Sanya Malhotra-starrer, which is a remake of the Telegu film of the same name is set to release on OTT. The story revolves around the case of a missing girl for which the Homicide Intervention Team (HIT) is given the task to solve at the earliest. Inspector Vikram Jaisingh (Rajkummar Rao) is put in charge of the case while simultaneously dealing with his own post-traumatic stress disorder. How will he solve this case filled with twists and turns? We’ll have to watch and find out.

4. House of the Dragon

The much-anticipated prequel to Game of Thrones is finally here! And the best part is that you can watch it even if you haven’t seen GoT. House of the Dragon is set 200 years before all the happenings in Game of Thrones and follows the events leading up to the Targaryen civil war.

5. She-Hulk: Attorney at Law

We finally get a solo Hulk film, but one that doesn’t centre around Bruce Banner. Instead, it follows the life of his cousin Jennifer Walters. Orphan Black star Tatiana Maslany plays the green goliath in She-Hulk. She is an accomplished lawyer who on getting an accidental blood transfusion from Bruce turns into the green superhero. Jameela Jamil, Ginger Gonzaga and Renée Elise Goldsberry also join the cast, besides Mark Ruffalo. And the end of the trailer also gives a glimpse of Daredevil’s appearance–one that we’re excited for sure.

6. Echoes

Love mysteries? You’ll like this one as it comes with double trouble. Twins Leni and Gina Demitri have been swapping their lives since childhood. This has led them to lead a double life with two husbands, two homes and a child. But when Leni goes missing, their plan gets thrown off and Gina struggles to keep everything in control.

7. Bad Sisters

A blend of dark commedy and thriller, Bad Sisters is about five sisters of the Garvey family (Eva, Becka, Grace, Bibi and Ursula) who are bound together by the early loss of their parents and promise to protect one another, no matter what. A promise like that is bound to end in chaos and indeed it does after the sudden death of one of Grace’s husband, John Paul. That’s when secrets start unravelling and you get to know some of the deep secrets of each sister.

8. Look Both Ways

What if you get to see and live both sides of your story? Netflix’s new film Look Both Ways explores this theme with Lili Reinhart as the lead. The official synopsis reads, “On the eve of her college graduation, Natalie’s life diverges into two parallel realities: one in which she becomes pregnant and must navigate motherhood in her Texas hometown, the other in which she moves to Los Angeles to pursue her career.”
