Since Oasis Is Back Together, Is Fashion Set To Embrace Its Indie-Sleaze Era Again? Parkas Mandatory, Please

Oasis

Okay fine, it’s happening. Oasis is back. The grudge harbouring, record-smashing, quintessentially Irish Gallagher brothers have united (questionable, need visual proof of them frolicking around hand-in-hand) to seemingly dethrone Miss Swift’s indomitable Ticketmaster run. Their friction-laden relationship has been documented to the nines and so, this is big. Parka boys are back. The indie sleaze tide is set to re-enter markets and I can sense the fashion collaborations on the horizon. Levi’s has already launched their ‘Band T’ collection with Oasis in honour of Definitely Maybe’s 30th anniversary.

Oasis

The legendary Manchester band originally shot to stardom with their ground-breaking record Definitely Maybe and broke up almost 15 years ago. And now, The Principality Stadium in Cardiff is set to host the opening ceremony of the much-awaited Oasis Live ’25 tour. They became fashion icons in their own right in pertinence to the youth culture of the 1990s because their style rejected the polished, glamorous image commonly associated with pop stars in favour of something more genuine and approachable.

Their appearance was a loud, brazen, and unpretentious visual portrayal of the band’s music, perfectly encapsulating the attitude of a generation eager to build its own identity while still feeling proud of its past.

Oasis

The loose, rebellious fashion of the ’60s had a big impact on the group. The sound and aesthetic of Oasis quickly became synonymous; their carefree attitude and aloof demeanour toward fashion and music connected with youth throughout the United Kingdom. And when it comes to outerwear, the Gallagher brothers take things seriously.

Their fits were mostly boxy with high collars that zipped up to their chins. We’re talking about folks who went on stage and performed in knee-length parkas, heat and stage lights be damned, so weather is barely a consideration. These were typically either navy blue or olive green and were influenced by mod and military styles.

Oasis

Sportswear was welcomed at Oasis, with major appearances by companies like Puma and Adidas alongside a loaded stockage of tracksuits, and shoes, which reflected their laid-back sense of style and realistic working-class sensibility. Nowadays, Liam hardly ever plays without a parka, while Noel has a regular laid-back dad look all thanks to his Ray Bans, button-down denim block shirts, and simple tees.

Commenting on their reunion, Oasis put out a statement saying: “The guns have fallen silent. The stars have aligned. The great wait is over. Come see. It will not be televised.” Hah, typical. The stadium’s going to be extremely sweaty, I just know it. Good luck to the fans able to score a ticket, the shady live streams will have to suffice for me.
