Reflecting on his awaited comeback he shared, “It’s an honor to close Lakmē Fashion Week X FDCI with The House of Lakmē Grand Finale. Through this collection, I aim to slow down time and allow the audience to appreciate the intricacy and grace both fashion and nature offer.”

ELLE: Can you give us a peek into the name and the inspiration for your much-awaited new collection?

Rohit Bal (RB): The collection is called Kaaynaat, which means “universe.” It is inspired by the vast, ethereal beauty of the cosmos and the delicate bloom of flowers. This collection captures the essence of celestial beauty intertwined with nature’s bloom, bringing to life a poetic expression of elegance and grace.

ELLE: What are the silhouettes, colour palettes, and embellishments utilised in your new collection?

RB: For this collection, we have crafted classic silhouettes like jackets, capes, and cloaks, which will be highlighted especially for this show. The colour palette features a rich blend of ivory, wine, and black, which embody both sophistication and timeless elegance. Each piece is intricately adorned with handwork, a signature element that elevates the craftsmanship and adds depth to the overall design.

ELLE: Tell us about your relationship with Lakmē Fashion Week. This show’s a bit of a comeback since it’s been a long time since you’ve showcased. How are you feeling?

RB: My relationship with Lakmē Fashion Week goes way back. I have had the pleasure of showcasing numerous collections with them over the years, and it feels wonderful to make a return. Lakmē has always provided an incredible platform for creativity, and it feels like coming back home to a space that has supported my vision for so long.

ELLE: In what ways does the Rouge Bloom collection by Lakmē complement your vision for the finale?

RB: The Rouge Bloom collection by Lakmē is the perfect complement to Kaaynaat because it resonates with the idea of untamed beauty. It embodies the wildness and boldness of a flower blooming in an unexpected place—just as this collection seeks to reflect the delicate balance between the fierce and the fragile. Together, they create a seamless blend of natural elegance and cosmic allure.

ELLE: Describe your collection in three crisp words.

RB: Ethereal. Bold. Timeless.
