I am in my ‘I want to be invited to the Ambani wedding festivities’ mindset. More than anything I would like to dress up, do myself up and show up! So let’s say I was invited to the wedding, then these looks that I am about to list down are makeup looks that I would do. Honestly, I would do these at the next function I would be invited to. So let’s just say this is a collective bank of makeup looks that we will all refer to if we are invited to a wedding. Cool? Cool!
Soft Glam
Think of soft glam as the “your skin but better” look. Start with a luminous primer, then foundation to even out your skin tone, add a touch of bronzer to warm up your complexion and use a peachy or rose-toned blush for a natural flush. For the eyes, opt for neutral shades. A soft brown or taupe eyeshadow can create depth without overpowering your eyes. Finish with a few coats of mascara for fluttery lashes, and keep the lips neutral with satin or matte finish nude or light pink lipstick. This look is perfect for daytime weddings or events where you want to look polished but not overly done, often spotted on Janhvi Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan.
Sparkle and Shine
If you love a bit of sparkle, glitter glam is the way to go. Start with a flawless base – a full-coverage foundation and concealer to create a smooth canvas. Highlight your cheekbones, the bridge of your nose, and your cupid’s bow for an ethereal glow. For the eyes, choose a glitter eyeshadow in gold, silver, rose gold or a fun colour if you wish to experiment. Apply it to your eyelids and blend it out, add some drama with winged eyeliner and voluminous lashes. Keep the rest of your makeup relatively simple to let your eyes be the star. Remember, you can never have enough glitter! A nude or soft pink lip will complement this look perfectly.
Dewy Glow
Dewy makeup is all about achieving that fresh, radiant look as if you just stepped out of a spa. Start with a hydrating primer and a dewy foundation to give your skin a healthy glow. Use a liquid highlighter on the high points of your face – the cheekbones, brow bones, and down the centre of your nose. For the eyes, stick to light, shimmery shades. Champagne and soft gold works beautifully for this look. Apply a thin layer of mascara to define your lashes. Choose a creamy blush in a peach or pink shade for a natural flush, and finish with a hydrating, glossy lip colour. Seal everything with a setting spray so your makeup stays put. Dewy makeup is perfect for outdoor weddings and Ananya Pandey often opts for this look.
Rosy Flush
Rosy makeup is timeless and perfect for any wedding. Start with a luminous foundation to create a flawless base. Use a rosy blush to give your cheeks a healthy, romantic flush. For the eyes, use pink and mauve tones. A soft pink eyeshadow across the lid with a deeper mauve in the crease can create a beautiful gradient effect. Add a touch of shimmer to the inner corners of your eyes to brighten them up. Finish with a few coats of mascara for soft, fluttery lashes. Pair this look with a pink or rose lipstick to tie it all together.
Bold and Beautiful
If you’re not afraid to make a statement, go for bold and beautiful makeup. Start with a matte foundation for a flawless, long-lasting base. Contour your cheekbones, jawline, and nose to add definition. For the eyes, choose dark shades like black, brown or grey to create a striking look. Blend the eyeshadow with a couple of similar shades to create depth on your lids and add some drama with a thick winged eyeliner. Don’t forget the false lashes for that extra oomph. Finish with a bold lip colour. Reds, plums, and deep berries can make a powerful statement. Just be sure to choose a long-wear formula to keep your lips looking perfect throughout the event. This look is Shruti Hassan’s go-to.
Natural Glam
Sometimes, less is more. If you prefer a more natural look, focus on enhancing your features rather than transforming them. Use a lightweight, dewy foundation or BB cream for a natural finish. A bit of concealer under the eyes and on any blemishes will keep your complexion looking fresh. For the eyes, stick to neutral shades. A light brown eyeshadow, a touch of mascara, and a bit of brow gel to keep your brows in place are all you need. Use a cream blush for a natural flush and finish with a tinted lip balm for a touch of colour.
No matter which look you choose, a few final touches can make all the difference. Set your makeup with a setting spray to ensure it lasts all day and night. Don’t forget to bring a touch-up kit with your lipstick, blotting papers, and a compact mirror to keep your makeup looking fresh. Here’s manifesting a big fat Indian wedding invite in all of our collective futures!
