To mark their 50th anniversary this year, Vogue Eyewear unveiled their new campaign featuring the brand’s face, Taapsee Pannu. The campaign’s key message, “We’re Superstars!” acknowledges that each person is a superstar in their own right and strengthens the brand’s commitment to self-belief, self-trust, and self-confidence. In the 50 years of the brand’s existence, Vogue Eyewear has encouraged women to define their own sense of style. ELLE India sits for an exclusive chat with Taapsee as she dons a specially curated collection from Vogue Eyewear for their anniversary campaign.
ELLE: What role does fashion play in your life, both personally and professionally?
Taapsee Pannu: The only thing that matters in terms of fashion is how I feel about the overall ensemble I’ve put up for myself. I find it exhausting to follow fashion trends, therefore I place more value on making my own.
ELLE: Are there any fashion icons or individuals whose style you admire and draw inspiration from?
TP: Actually, I don’t follow one person. I like different people at different times basis the look they sport. I believe so many of them are inspiring, it depends on which direction you’re looking to get inspired. Is it an Indian vintage look or basic, is it a red carpet experimental look or classic, each one has a different icon for me. And it changes or names get added on with time and experience.
ELLE: What influences your outfit choices for different occasions?
TP: My mood at that moment, body type and occasion in particular.
ELLE: How do you strike a balance between comfort and style when putting together an outfit?
TP: I first wear what I’m comfortable in and then just add one statement element to make it stylish enough.
ELLE: Do you have any signature fashion pieces that reflect your personal style?
TP: I genuinely feel eyewear looks good on me, so I have a huge collection of that. Other than that, I have an interesting collection of earrings and hair accessories that I wear a lot.
ELLE: Can you share any tips or tricks on how to style sunglasses for different occasions or settings?
TP: When it comes to sunglasses, there is something for everyone as there is a versatile range of styles that are available spanning different types of frames, designs and colours. Sunglasses are a great accessory to complete your look and amp up any ensemble. According to me, rather than trying to ape any trends, it is best to pick a style that resonates with your authentic personality and match it to the vibe of your outfit, the occasion or even your mood!

TP: I love the multifaceted persona of Vogue Eyewear’s collection and it blends in flawlessly with my personal style. Celebrating its 50th Anniversary this year, the brand has catered to varied style preferences–from trendy and pop to classic and elegant. The styles are affordable and hence are accessible to younger consumers as well. Additionally, the current collection from the campaign is an especially curated capsule that captures all facets of my personality and brings them forward in a bold manner–fun, versatile, colourful, and stylish.
