ELLE City Guide: The Holy Grail Of Vintage Shops In Paris And Where To Find Them

The Paris Olympics are just around the corner and a visit to Paris may seem to be on the cards for almost any sports enthusiast. But if you happen to be an admirer of not just sports but all things fashion, then for the first time in a long time, Paris is the city for you.

With all eyes on the Olympics and their logo adorned on the major monuments in Paris, my eyes were on the vintage stores I spent day and night hunting for. A shopping spree in Paris is no easy feat for getting duped is a way of life but lucky for you, my intense need to add more to my closet, took me right to the holy grail of vintage shops. And, of course, I’m bringing them to you.

Before I begin, here’s something you need to know about these stores in Paris. Usually, there’s more than one of each – it could be official or it could be a copy so make sure to put in the right address. Here’s a Google Maps link with all the stores saved on it:

Here’s a shop I entered with my boyfriend and immediately parted ways to go to different sections. Albeit, it looks small from the outside but as you enter, you see more and more racks of jackets, blazers, trousers and more. It’s one of the few stores divided by size although I’d suggest you look through it all because you could find a gem anywhere.

While I was busy hunting, a man bought a vintage Chicago Bulls jacket and I’m pretty sure I saw this grown man skip as he exited the store. It shuts at 7:30 pm but if you’re inside the store, they’ll let you look around till 8 pm; no new customers will be allowed inside.

CrushON happens to be available in multiple cities across Europe and even has more than one store in Paris. Galeries Lafayette was my favourite. With a wide range of vintage pre-loved pieces, you could spend hours at the brightly designed store just window shopping or finding your next wardrobe treasure.

Address: 42 Bd Haussmann Level 3, 75009 Paris, France

Timings: Monday to Sunday 10 am to 8 pm

Shop: Ressourcerie Paris Centre L’Alternative

A concept vintage store located in the heart of Paris, it offers a shopping + coffee experience (two of my favourite things put together). With upcycled, vintage and pre-loved items, the store offers a variety I’ve seldom seen anywhere. I found vintage scarves, shoes, bags and even men’s t-shirts all at unbelievable prices.

Address: 13 Rue Léopold Bellan, 75002 Paris, France

Timings: Tuesday to Saturday 1 pm to 7:30 pm

Shop: Guerrisol

For the coolest one-of-a-kind pieces that your favourite brands don’t produce any more, here’s the shop for you. I found the cutest denim mini dress with a ruffle skirt and a corset belt.

Address: 21 Blvd Marguerite de Rochechouart, 75009 Paris, France

Timings: Monday to Saturday 10 am to 7 pm

Shop: Frishop

For the much coveted €5, €10 and €15 racks, this is the store for you. From puffers to bombers to blazers and cute tops, I found something cute in almost every category of fashion you can think of.

Address: Rue Boinod, 75018 Paris, France

Timings: Monday to Sunday 10 am to 8 pm

Shop: FREE’P’STAR

You reach this location and can see different stores named the exact same. Turns out, they are actually all the same. For lack of space or an insane amount of clothes, FREE’P’STAR has taken over three shops in the same vicinity. So much to look through and so many endless possibilities, I was on a mission to find designer wear.

My boyfriend found a vintage men’s Givenchy sweatshirt at a steal price and I found vintage Moschino jeans that fit like a glove. There’s even a €1 basket which is more like a bottomless pit of clothes. The options are so vast that even JLo shopped here.

Address: 61 Rue de la Verrerie, 75004 Paris, France

Timings: Monday to Sunday 10 am to 7:30 pm

Shop: Kamad Paris

A boutique dedicated to upcycling, they create racer jackets, co-ord sets, dresses and even had a super cool LV upcycled pair of boots.

A treat for any football fan, this store hosts a variety of retro jerseys and scarves. Sizes Medium and Large are relatively easier to find but a size Small may be a bit difficult. From Ronaldinho to Beckham, the retro jersey options are limitless. You can even get little figurines and footballs in the store. If not to shop, it’s a treat to visit as well.
