No matter the geographic location, one thing is given. You’ll rarely find someone who despises and doesn’t enjoy music. Because if there’s one thing we all share in common—it’s our affinity towards beats and tunes that bring feelings of joy, nostalgia, calmness and everything more under the sun. And let’s come to terms with the fact that we’re all on the lookout for fresh, new music every day. Whether it’s a playlist for workout or tunes to hum to on a drive, the search is often never-ending.

If you’re looking to update your music playlist then here’s your cue:

Samyukta Nair, Food and Fashion Entrepreneur

I absolutely adore the Normal People soundtrack and have it on repeat on most days. I think my love for it stems primarily from really enjoying Sally Rooney’s novel of the same name and how beautifully the score is woven into the narrative of the Ireland-set drama. With a strong screenplay and visual performance, the soundtrack makes for a treat that I can get to revisit long after finishing the show.

I first heard Harvest Moon by the daytime disco band, Poolside on my last holiday to Goa. The song is originally by Neil Young, but this cover always instantly transports me to a happier time, driving through the palm-studded roads of Goa!

For me, more than a song—it’s a playlist. As Grammy 2021 is around the corner, I have been singing down memory lane with a nostalgic rewind of all the winning Grammy Songs of the Year from 1970 to 2020. The playlist features some favourites like Unforgettable, Natalie Cole’s duet with Nat King Cole; Wind Beneath My Wings, Bette Midler; and A Whole New World, Peabo Bryson, and Regina Belle.

Bleedin’ Out is my debut international collaboration with 1/3rd of The Glitch Mob, the ever-talented edIT (Ed Ma). It’s a true representation of multiple cultures coming together for the universal language. The release is timely as it’s a part of edIT’s solo 3rd Album, Come To Grips, which sheds light on the fire that connects us all.

I am currently loving listening to Save Your Tears by The Weekend on loop.

I am listening non-stop to a song by KT Tunstall called Throw Me A Rope. I just love the words of this song. I am one of those silly ones who always find a song to associate with my state of mind. It has been a year since I have been away from my partner for very long period of time. This song is really about the time I am away from her. Yes, I am silly and romantic but what the heck.

I’m a proper homebody. Although, it’s been important to disconnect from the mundane and I cherish sitting by my window during the sunset hours. Lately, I’ve been revisiting songs I used to listen to as a teenager for that sense of safety and comfort. Moonchild by the Indie band, The F16s, has been on repeat this week and never fails to make me get up and dance by myself in my living room.
