Let’s head straight to the point–no one does red carpet style like Zendaya. The CFDA 2021 Fashion Icon Award winner has been out and about with the lead Tom Holland to promote their upcoming film Spider-Man: No Way Home. While we’re swooning over the red carpet chemistry shared by the reel and real-life couple, we can’t help but ‘marvel’ at Zendaya’s promotional looks with subtle fashion hints inspired by the movie–either from the villains or the Spider-Man suit. Here are all the looks we love so far.
Into The Web
Zendaya stole the show with her custom nude Valentino gown embellished with black beads that resemble a spider’s web. But let’s not forget the other risqué elements–a plunging neckline, thigh-high slit and a bare back with criss-cross detailing along with a floor-sweeping train. The icing on the cake tho was her lace black mask that resembles the one worn by Tom Holland as Spider-Man. We gotta say, this one got our spidey senses tingling!
Doc Ock Approved
While promoting the film at the Ballon D’or ceremony in Paris, the star made heads turn as she donned a Roberto Cavalli long-sleeved dress featuring a spine-like, structural gold piece of jewellery on her back. Fans on the Internet went into a frenzy when they realised Zendaya’s subtle reference to the returning villain Dr Otto Octavius aka Doc Ock in the film’s third instalment via her dress!
Screaming Green
Attending The Graham Norton show, Zendaya graced our screens with a green pantsuit from the Valentino 2022 collection. And of course, the green resembles Green Goblin. Kudos to you if you guessed this before we even said it! The actress pairs the suit with a purple shirt and completes the ensemble with Christian Louboutin pumps and Bvlgari jewels.
Something Borrowed
For the London red carpet photo-call, the star delivered yet another jaw-dropping look. Wearing Alexander McQueen head-to-toe, her ensemble featured a grey oversized, boxy blazer and black stockings adorned with silver embellishments. The highlight of the look is the pair of sparkly cobweb earrings from Jacob & Co. And guess what? This outfit isn’t really inspired by the film. Fans say it hints at Venom, another Marvel character that has a similar suit to Spider-Man but in black.
Blast From The Past
FYI, Zendaya is no stranger to bringing her own spin to promotional looks. She has done it in the past too. Remember the red and black sequinned Armani Privé gown she donned during the Spider-Man: Far From Home premiere? That one was her own version of the Spider-Man suit and we’re sure even Peter Parker gave his nod to it.
