Lakmé Fashion Week 2023 was a feast for the eyes, not just for fashion enthusiasts but also for beauty connoisseurs. Models donned looks that pushed the boundaries and gave us beauty inspiration to last us through the year. Experimental choices, from glitter eyes to embellished hair, left the audience in awe.
So, here’s taking a look at all the days of the Lakmé Fashion Week 2023 and picking out the stand out beauty trends of the season-
Shimmering Eyelids
Paulmi and Harsh’s show on Day 5 of the Lakmé Fashion Week 2023 drew inspiration from the Baroque and Renaissance periods with gold embellishments and floral details. As for the glam, the models’ faces were left natural and dewy because the eyes were in spotlight–silver glitter with blue reflex was spread across the eyelids. The hairstyles varied from low braided buns to straight open hair with tassel accessories.
Bubble Braids
Kiara Advani walked the ramp for TRESemmé X Falguni Shane Peacock. Her neutral, contoured base paired perfectly with her dramatic eye look. Her hair was fashioned into a long, bubble braid with face-framing pieces in the front. Other hairstyles from the show were cornrow braids, 90’s blowouts with a bow, low buns and ponytails pulled back using metal accessories.
Draped Blush
In a fun, over-the-top Péro show, the models were dressed in colourful, eccentric outfits with floral appliques and crochet shoes. The Alice In Wonderland-esque collection called for an equally playful beauty trend–draped blush. Everyone wore a bright pop of pink on their cheeks and accessories like hair rollers, hats, and toy animals in their hair.
Graphic Liner & Fabric Braids
The SVA by Sonam and Paras Modi show on Day 5 of the Lakmē Fashion Week was a blend of comfort and style with their free-flowing silhouettes and unique fabrics. The front pieces of the models’ hair too were braided with coinciding fabrics and feathers to that of their outfits. The look was complete using a bright blue graphic liner on the eyes and nude lips.
Bedazzled Liner
Adah Sharma walked for Sanjukta Dutta’s new collection ‘Sapoon’. She wore a yellow saree embellished with pearls and floral appliques, complete with a gigantic flower on the shoulder. She carried a bold black wing along with an additional embezzled wing on top that was in line with the yellow tones of her outfit.
Pearls and Swirls
At Samant Chauhan’s show, we saw pristine white outfits from his “Ice Watch” collection. And while the clothes were stunning, so were the hair and makeup looks. The models wore an icy blue shimmer across their eyes and pearls on their gelled hair. Their baby hair was fashioned into swirls on their foreheads and cheeks.
Wet Hair
Wet, gelled-back hair is a sure-shot way to take your beauty looks from everyday to high fashion. This trend was seen on the ramp multiple times during Lakmé Fashion Week 2023 but Lisa Haydon for Bibhu Mohapatra and Rakul Preet for Bhumika Sharma caught my eye.
While Lisa’s highlighted inner corner was the focus of her look, Rakul Preet’s makeup was kept rather natural with sculpted cheeks, soft eyebrows and a nude lip. Her hair also, interestingly, retained its middle part while being gelled backwards.
Bun & Braids
We’ve seen buns and we’ve seen braids. But, at Amita Gupta’s show, we saw them in unison. This unique hairstyle had a high, messy updo with two braids falling on the shoulders. Some models even wore cloth hairbands with this hairstyle.
Glitter Galore
Geisha Designs by Paras & Shalini was a collection of ornamental cocktail wear with elements like lace, tassels, sequins and rhinestones. The makeup looks were decorated with glitter across the forehead or under the eyes, and rhinestones dotted all over the face. The hair was neatly pulled back into a similar wet look as that of Rakul Preet’s hair.
Spiky Bun
Dia Mirza walked the ramp for Raga By Titan X Pankaj & Nidhi wearing a white ensemble. Her outfit was very powerful with tall collars and shoulder peaks. Her makeup, on the other hand, was very natural with soft brown and sparkle on her eyes and nude on her lips. Her hair was pulled back into a spiky low bun which is trending quite a bit these days.
