Growing up in a family that is obsessed with Bollywood, my favourite pastime has always been to dance in front of the TV screen, just like any other kid. There wasn’t a single Bollywood hook step that I didn’t know how to nail in my teenage years, which I am still very confident about. Dancing to Bollywood numbers has been a core memory for a lot of us, be it at school functions, family weddings, or in front of our relatives for that extra pocket money. There’s a sense of nostalgia in those songs, especially because of the hook steps (I mean, you can easily figure out the movie name while playing dumb charades with one hook step as the hint).
Ever since its start, Bollywood or Indian films have always marketed heavily on dance and song, which also sets it apart from other international film industries. And in this era of reels and TikTok, the dance challenges are the cheapest and easiest way to create maximum buzz around the films. The latest wave has been created by Vicky Kushal for his song Tauba Tauba from his upcoming film Bad Newz. Everyone is trying to match Vicky’s steps, which are choreographed by the iconic duo Bosco-Caeser, who have also worked on popular hits like Senorita, Jhoome Jo Pathaan, Gallan Goodiyaan, and many more.
