5 Different Ways to Style The Cottagecore Trend This Summer

Untitled design (18)

Cottagecore is all about that simple life. Think picnic on a summer day in the countryside or a farm with a wicker basket and how you would dress for it. Flowing dresses, smock-frocks, puffy sleeves, ruffled necklines, and ruched blouses are some of the ways in which you can incorporate the cottage core aesthetic in your wardrobe. While this trend is borrowed from the regency and Victorian era, the millennials and Gen-Z gave it a more contemporary appeal. The prairie look, also known as the house dress, became a go-to fashion solution during the lockdown for those who wanted to ditch the sweats. It’s comfortable-chic, and there are multiple ways in which you can experiment with it.

Here are the five different ways in which you can work the cottage core trend.

1. Serve It With Solid Separates

Cottagecore, but make it beach-ready! Influencer Camila Coelho gave this trend a California upgrade by teaming a mint green puffy-sleeved blouse with a pair of high-waisted shorts. Style it with tiny vintage sunglasses and some dainty jewellery for that effortless spring-summer look.

2. Tune It With Tie-Dye

If you want to wear cottage core the formal way but still keep it fun and fresh, take a cue from Aditi Rao Hydari. The actor wore tie-dye separates with prominent fluffy-cowl sleeve detail, serving some serious dual trend look.

3. Play It Up With Polka-Dots And Peplum

Shay Mitchell made brunch dressing look like serious business by opting for a big-sleeved, super short number. What further made the outfit interesting was the element of polka dot and peplum.

4. Farm To Animal Prints

This Gen-Z-approved way of doing cottage core also got the nod of approval from Southern star Samantha Prabhu. The actor wore a cropped animal printed top with a leg of mutton sleeve detail and clubbed it with white denim and a crossbody bag, nailing the internet generation’s uniform.

5. Prairie But Make It Party

The Scream Queen of all things elegant and clean, Emma Robert is a total minimalist. Instead of taking the floral/spring route when it comes to wearing the cottage core trend, the actor glammed it up by picking an all-black, form-fitting dress with bulging sleeves.
