As we enter the month of love, you’re probably expecting some new rom-coms on the block. But that’s not really the case. There’s a list of new series and movies for every kind–whether you love to watch suspense, crime, drama or action. From Shahid Kapoor’s OTT debut series Farzi to the Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher starrer Your Place Or Mine to the Indian adaptation of Elite, here are the new shows and films to binge-watch in the first half of February.
1. Your Place Or Mine
Ashton Kutcher is all set to make his on-screen comeback in this new rom-com, and he shares screen space with Reese Witherspoon and Jesse Williams. The film’s plot is about two best friends Debbie (Reese) and Peter (Ashton) staying in different cities, and are complete opposites. While Debbie is on the search for routine with her son, Peter is someone who is constantly on the hunt for change. When the two swap houses and their lives for a week, they realise what they want is something completely different. And while we root for the two to get together just by the looks of the trailer, Theo (Jesse) is guy who swoops in Debbie’s life to create a love triangle.

2. Class
The Indian adaptation of the hit Spanish teen drama series Elite, Class tells the story of new scholarship students joining the posh school Hampton International, which leads to the working-class and wealthy classmates clashing against one another. Their arrival leads to a tumultuous turn of events culminating into the death of one student.

3. You Season 4 Part 1
Joe Goldberg is set to make an appearance again, and this time we see him roaming about the streets of London under a new identity, that of Professor Jonathan Moore. He wishes to bury the past and start a new life but when he comes across an English girl in his circle, his obsessive stalking nature is back. But that’s not all the trailer shows. Apparently, Joe has a stalker of his own who sends him messages and also knows his real identity. Who could this be? You’ll have to watch the new season to find out.

4. Farzi
Marking his OTT debut, Shahid Kapoor is all set to appear in the crime action series Farzi opposite Vijay Sethupathi. The story follows Sunny (Kapoor), a small town artist who enters the high stakes world of counterfeiting to publish fake currency notes in order to earn a huge amount of money. Sethupathi plays the role of a task officer who is on a mission to expose this scandal. What you’ll see is a cat and mouse chase between the two stars in the series.

5. The Luminaries
Based on on Eleanor Catton’s 2013 Man Booker Prize-winning novel, this period drama is set against the backdrop of the 1860s gold rush in New Zealand. It follows the journey of a sex worker Anna Wetherell who is accused of murdering and arrives in New Zealand from London to start afresh. The “suspenseful tale of love, murder, magic and revenge” has many twists and turns with the truth coming out in the final episode.

6. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever
ICYMI in theatres, here’s your chance to watch the MCU film on OTT. It pays a tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman while carrying the story with two females taking on the reigns. The official synopsis reads, “Queen Ramonda, Shuri, M’Baku, Okoye, and the Dora Milaje fight to protect their nation from intervening world powers in the wake of King T’Challa’s death. As the Wakandans strive to embrace their next chapter, the heroes must band together with the help of War Dog Nakia and Everett Ross and forge a new path for the kingdom of Wakanda.”

7. The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder Season 2
The animated series picks up the story of its central character, Penny Proud, and her iconic family: parents Oscar and Trudy, twin siblings BeBe and CeCe, and grandmother Suga Mama (and Puff!). By Penny’s side is her loyal crew: Dijonay Jones, LaCienega Boulevardez, Zoey Howzer, Maya Leibowitz-Jenkins and Michael Collins. The second season continues to tell entertaining and laugh-out-loud stories, while highlighting culturally specific experiences of the Black community and addressing universal topics. You’ll see various storylines revolving around self-worth, interracial dating and Juneteenth this season.

8. The Romantics
If you think this is a cliched romantic drama, then you’re mistaken. The Romantics is a documentary series celebrating the cultural legacy of the iconic Indian filmmaker Yash Chopra and his studio Yash Raj Films (YRF). And it’s set to drop on Valentine’s Day as a tribute to the filmmaker who’s regarded as the father of romance in Hindi cinema. The star-studded four-part series features 35 leading voices across three generations from the Bollywood industry such as Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Ranveer Singh, Bhumi Pednekar, Katrina Kaif, among others. It dives into the history of Bollywood through the lens of the studio’s impact over the past 50 years in making Bollywood globally recognised.
