8 Times Aditi Rao Hydari Proved That For Indian Wear, Less Is More

Untitled-design-12-2

We think of Aditi Rao Hydari’s style, and instantly associate it with the word timeless—especially when it comes to her traditional looks. For someone who belongs to two distinct royal lineages (Hydari and Rao of Assam and Wanaparthi, respectively), Aditi effortlessly manages to juxtapose them through her fashion choices. She carries the six yards of handloom as deftly as the chikankari gharara.

Aditi has leaned towards labels that incorporate indigenous handicrafts—whether it’s her choice of drapes from Raw Mango to her go-to Tarun Tahiliani lehengas. It’s all rooted in classic Indian heritage. As a staunch minimalist, it’s interesting to see her take on festive-wear, without ever taking the OTT route. Here’s decoding Aditi Rao Hydari’s theory of infusing simplicity in all her ethnic wear look and smashing it.

1. Brocade Kameez & Lehenga

Giving the short choli and low-waist lehenga a fresh new upgrade, Aditi recently stepped out in a long brocade green kameez with contrasting rani pink lining, and a matching A-line skirt by Raw Mango.

2. Anarkali Kurta & Lehenga

You can now club your anarkali with a skirt, just like Aditi did. For another festive outing, the Delhi 6 actor opted for a hot pink flared kurta with minimal embroidery and a printed chevron skirt by designer Punit Balana.

3. Floral Co-ordinated Set

Traditional coordinated sets are in, and Aditi definitely got the memo. She followed the trend in a floral peplum kameez and sharara set by Aastha Narang, effortlessly blending the vintage aesthetic of the ensemble, with her personal aesthetic.

4. Solid Sari With A Printed Blouse

Another day and another slay for Aditi in Raw Mango, this time, in ketchup-hued sari and vertically-striped blouse by the designer whose expertise lies in textile. She punctuated the attire with her signature no-make-up look, traditional jewellery and a quintessential red rose bun.

5. Colour-Blocked Kurta Set

Serving a lesson on how to colour-block with traditional wear, Aditi wore a royal blue kurta with a pair of neon yellow salwar. You can now skip the embellishments and embroideries and use colour as a major eye-catching factor for your outfit during the festive season.

6. Fusion Lehnga

What do you do when you want to wear a lehenga as well as a suit? You compromise and opt for a hybrid silhouette, just Like Aditi did! For an award night, the actor stole the show in a floral monochromatic mermaid skirt, black bandeau and an identical blazer-style jacket by Shriya Som. This is a fusion combination we hadn’t gotten around to creating.

7. Zardosi Lehenga

Always repping the designers from the South,  Aditi looked royal in a zardosi-clad, aubergine lehenga by Jayanti Reddy. Even when it comes to putting together wedding looks, she applies the same formula of giving precedence to garments that don’t look heavy but are rich in terms of the craft.

8. Metallic Lehenga & Organza Blouse

Want to look opulent without looking extra? Take a leaflet out of Aditi’s stylebook. While closing a Lakmé Fashion Week show for designers Pankaj & Nidhi, Aditi walked the ramp in a one off-shoulder organza blouse and a foil printed gold skirt.
