Rihanna has claimed major shelf space in our beauty wardrobes since 2017, when she blessed the world with her game-changing Fenty Beauty make-up line. From challenging industry standards by launching 50 shades of foundations to creating her cult lip luminizer, Gloss Bomb, the singer time and again gives all beauty brands a serious run for their money. This week, Rihanna is debuting her line of Fenty Skin products and here’s what you can expect…
Main players
From the Fenty Skin Instagram page, we’ve learnt that Rihanna is launching a trio of products called Fenty Skin Start’rs. These skincare basics–cleanser, toner and moisturiser–aim to streamline and simplify skincare routines.
You begin your regime with Total Cleans’r Remove-It-All Cleanser, a gel-cream, hydrating formula that doubles up as an effective make-up remover. It is infused with vitamin C-rich (more potent than an orange) Barbados cherry that’ll brighten up your complexion.
Next up is Fat Water, a hybrid of a serum and toner. This formula contains all-star ingredients like hyaluronic acid (hydrating), niacinamide and witch hazel (these regulate sebum production and reduce the appearance of pores).
If you’re someone who is tired of dealing with white cast that sunscreen leaves in its trail, you’ll be seriously impressed by Hydra Vizor. This SPF 30 invisible chemical sunscreen contains hyaluronic acid (hi, again), baobab, Kalahari melon and aloe vera to hydrate and soothe skin.
One for all
Sticking to her philosophy of inclusivity, the singer spent about two years looking into the formulation of the products that are ungendered and perfect for all skin types—they’re sensitive skin-friendly too. Her campaign features rappers ASAP Rocky and Lil Nas X and if her make-up formulas are anything to go by, Rihanna is not here to play.
Eco-friendly Packaging
Rihanna had taken to Instagram and said that along with creating formulations that are effective, it was important for her to package them in materials that are ‘kind to the environment.’ The cleanser tube is made up of 40 per cent post-consumer resins aka recycled plastic and has no outer packaging to minimise waste. The bottle and cap of the serum-toner are recyclable and the sunscreen bottle is refillable.
Coming up
According to the trademark filed at the United States Trademark and Patent Office, Fenty Skin will be a brand that will launch skin, body and personal care products along with tools and applicators. Just take our money already!
