When it was announced that Sridevi would be given the National Award posthumously for her role in the movie Mom, it was a bittersweet moment for the Kapoor family including Boney Kapoor and his two young daughters, Khushi and Janhvi Kapoor. At the time, they had released an official statement, saying, “We are overjoyed to know that the Jury has conferred the Best Actor Award to Sridevi for her performance in MOM. It’s a very special moment for all of us. She was always a perfectionist and it showed in all the 300 plus films she did. She was not just a super actor but a Super Wife and a Super Mom. Its time to celebrate her life and her achievements. She is not with us today but her legacy will always live on.”

Today, Manish Malhotra posted a photo of photo of Janhvi Kapoor dressed in her mother’s sari to pick up Sridevi’s National Award, looking every bit the doppelganger of the widely beloved actress who passed away suddenly at the age of 54 in Dubai earlier this year, sending the entire film industry into convulsions of grief.
In the emotional post, the designer who is a close friend of the family and mentor to Khushi and Janhvi Kapoor writes, “The very pretty Janhvi Kapoor as she goes to Receive Sridevi Ma’am’s much deserved National Award for her fabulous performance in Mom… An actress and a human being and the friend that we all miss every day of our lives… Janhvi Kapoor in her mom’s personal sari for this emotional and precious moment.”
